Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Cuisinart CBK-200 2-Pound Convection Automatic Bread MakerCustomer Review: Junk Summary: 1 Stars
I bought this item in June 2009. In July 2009 I contacted Cuisinart because I'd only used it twice and it broke. The paddle wouldn't spin. They advised me that I could mail it back to them with a cheque for them to mail me a new one. This being completely ludicrous that I would pay shipping for this substandard machine that I already forked out $120 on, they agreed to pay the shipping. When I received the second Cuisinart breadmaker, I pulled it out of the box and the lid immediately fell off and a screw fell onto the floor. It was mottled with pry marks and dents. I again contacted Cuisinart and they arranged to have it picked up at my house again and then mailed me a third breadmaker. The third breadmaker I used only twice as the pan kept popping out of place and therefore the dough would not mix. AGAIN, I contacted Cuisinart and they informed me that since I had struck out with 3 of the same appliance, they would NOT send me another breadmaker but I could choose any item(s) from their website of equal or greater value. If the value was greater however, I had to send them a cheque to cover that value. If I decided on an item of lesser value, I would NOT receive a cheque, I would just lose that money. They will not refund my money. I am still trying to speak to a manager of their service department, but after 4 requests I am still being refused. I will never buy another Cuisinart product. I actually regret buying all of the cuisinart appliances and cookware that I have purchased based on this ridiculous experience.
Customer Review: Quality of Cuisinart CBK-200 bread machine is in question Summary: 2 Stars
With this bread machine you can select the size loaf, 1, 1 1/2, or 2 lb; and the loaf finished color (really just duration of baking time) by selecting "light, medium, or dark", and has 16 different settings for different types of breads and/or cooking methods. All of this is what I was looking for in the bread machine. The machine makes decent bread, but the sound of the machine makes me wonder if it will last for the next six months. We have used it for the past two months, making loaves about every 1 to 1 1/2 weeks. The machine is very noisy, loud clacking and knocking noise, and very obvious shaking. Just recently I have noticed the machine stopping while in the middle of the mixing cycles. I'm not talking about the stopping sequence to change the direction of the mixing paddle, but it will irradically stop occassionly in both the clockwise and counter-clockwise directions. Almost seems like a electrical contact will open for no reason for about a second or two, then continue with the cycle. The machine makes a horizontal loaf which I like. However, one end of the loaf is always lighter in color than the the other end. One other grip I have is that the baking thermostatic is set too high and borderline overcooks the loaves, even when the controls is set for a "light" loaf color. I thought Cuisinart was a standard for quality, but they missed the mark on this bread machine. I would not recommend this machine based on my experience with it.

Bread Machine Review Cuisanart CBK200
Whatever you do, do not buy a refurbished Cuisanart CBK200 machine & do not buy one through Ebay! I paid $80 for it & received it on July 10. On August 15 it quit working altogether.
I am a very experienced bread machine baker & all-around cook. This was my 4th machine in about 20 years. My previous machines were Toastmasters which were excellent.
The first three loaves (white & wheat) were okay. The next was Banana Walnut Loaf, per their recipe---the Quick Bread/cake cycle. It burned at least 3/4" deep on the bottom and both sides. Thinking perhaps there was an error in the recipe book, I baked a second loaf using the Sweet Bread cycle. Since I had trouble with the previous loaf, I watched it very carefully. It also began burning. When it cooked enough that I could remove it from the pan I did, then finished cooking it in my oven which took another 40 minutes. Then last Saturday, Aug 15, it started humming loudly & quit working at all.
The book that came with it stated a 90 day limited warranty. When I contacted Cuisanart they refused any help, saying they would not honor a warranty on anything purchased through EBay as they had had so many problems with things purchased there.
I emailed the seller, Abe's Gourmet Kitchen, yesterday, requested a refund and am waiting on their reply.

Customer Review: Critical Consumer Summary: 5 Stars
Okay. I'm looking for a bread machine and I have never used one. As a matter of fact, I despise baking so you can see that I need something quite special. Something for a beginner. Something pretty much foolproof. But, most of all, something that will last and deliver it's promises. After reading what seemed to be thousands of reviews, I decided to go with the Cuisinart. Years ago, you were able to buy a product without the bells and whistles and still get an EXCELLENT product. Unfortunately, today that just doesn't happen. So, this machine does have bells and whistles. But, it's simple to work! I followed the instructions and much to my amazement am making the most incredible bread ever. Also, please note that the instruction booklet is amazing. One language - English. That's always a plus. There are tons of recipes and they're easy. I feel that I'm on my way to culinary school! So, if you're like me who insists on quality products, am anxious to make bread and have it work each time, this is the machine to get. It's quiet - it doesn't "walk" around during the kneading process like some reviewers claimed about different machines - easy to use and it feels "quality". I have a galley kitchen (tiny) with very little counter space and it doesn't take up much room at all. In fact, I plan on leaving it out on the counter. So, let me save you the time and research - this is the ONE. Worth every penny...
Customer Review: Not a good Machine Summary: 1 Stars
I bought this machine in October 08 and for the first few months the bread that I made was fine but after a while oil began to appear around the paddle area. The oil was much more noticeable when making pizza dough. I phoned Cuisinart and they sent me a replacement bread pan free of charge - I had to return the original bread pan at my cost. I received the replacement bread pan and the pan again leaked oil again. I phoned Cuisinart again and they told me a little oil was OK!! I then asked to speak to a supervisor who agreed with me that oil should not be leaking so a replacement bread machine was sent to me at no cost but again I have to return the original one to them at my cost. My replacement machine turned up and once again I made a loaf. This time during the cooking cycle the machine made a continuous buzzing sound. I again rang Cuisinart who said there was something wrong with the machine so they said they would send me a THIRD replacement at no cost but because this second replacement machine failed so quickly (first time use) they would arrange for UPS to come and collect the machine at no cost to me. I told them I no longer wanted a replacement bread machine and was told that I could have a credit but not a refund. So I have opted for a third replacement machine but am thinking of purchasing a different brand. I no longer trust this model or this brand.
