Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Cuisinart BFP-703CH SmartPower Duet Blender and Food Processor, Chrome

Customer Review: Love It Until The Motor Dies
Summary: 2 Stars

We received this blender for our wedding, and used it for blending smoothies and crushing ice for drinks. We loved it until the motor quit suddenly within the first year. The store was kind enough to replace it, and we loved our second one for almost six months, when it died. We exchanged it again, but it also died within a year. We just celebrated our third anniversary, and have gone through three SmartPower Duets in that time. I know, it sounds like we abuse the blender, ask it to blend rocks, beat it with a baseball bat, but the truth is we only use it for fruit, ice, and juice. In my opinion, a blender should be able to handle this.

I would NOT recommend this product unless Cuisinart does something about making the motor last longer than a year. You'll be buying a new one soon!

Customer Review: Never A Problem With Mine!
Summary: 5 Stars

I've had this Cusinart model for at least 3 years and have used it for a variety of purposes. Although I don't use the food processor on a regular or consistent basis, just knowing that it's there and accessible, if needed, makes this a worthwhile purchase.

My model is white, not chrome. It seems like every year has a new color to keep up with the decorator's choices for that year. But that shouldn't affect the operation because they're all the same.

Anyway, Cuisinart is a brand name that has a reputable past and I trust my blender to be working and with me for many years to come.

I love it and hope, if you buy one, you'll love yours just as much.

Customer Review: Waste of Money
Summary: 2 Stars

I read the reviews on this pretty thoroughly before purchasing it. I did check the plastic base of the pitcher - and like someone else mentioned, I too found a hairline crack. I called the company and they gave me no problem - they are sending a new one. I have still used it a few times, and it seems to work great. We are very happy with it so far - it is a million times better than our last blender.

UPDATE: The blender only lasted a year before we had the same problem as many others - the blade seized up and tore the bottom to shreds. They sent us a replacement, requesting that we return the broken blade.... Six months later the exact thing happened to the replacement blade. In addition, the food processor had issues that caused damage within the first few weeks.

Customer Review: As others have mentioned
Summary: 2 Stars

I really like this unit when i first got it. I had a krups blender before which i thought was horrible. Anyways it made margharittas relatively well and did everything i asked of it. The food processor attachment was also nice in that i don't have to get the full size processor out which is a hastle. Anyways after about 1.5 years of usuage the machanim that holds the blade (the drive gear in the motor contact this within the jar) has cracked. I was making hot sauce which shouldn't even been difficult at all for this machine to process. I would have gave this a 4 if this mechanism hadn't cracked. I will be going with another blender since so many other people have reported the same thing. To bad this could have been a great blender if cuisinart would have fixed that problem

Customer Review: Worked solid for 2 years, then broke. Cuisinart fixed it though.
Summary: 3 Stars

I bought the joint blender and the food processor. It works really well for about 2 years. Then the food processor simply stopped working. The motor moved but it did not slice or grate anything. It somehow lost power. So we started to use only the blender. Then the plastic housing of the blade cracked. This got water leaking in the motor and the rubber gear starting wearing off. So basically it's a gone case.

I have bought a lot of cheaper blenders before and none of them lasted long. I thought a more expensive one like Cuisinart would have better life. But I guess not.

However, Cuisinart did replace the blender. I had to pay the shipping both ways, but that was cheaper than buying a new blender. I took one month to get the new blender.
