Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Cuisinart BFP-703CH SmartPower Duet Blender and Food Processor, Chrome

Customer Review: Smart, Sexy Machine
Summary: 5 Stars

I love this god among mortals of the blender world. I love the superior control it gives the chef, the versatility, and the sleek style. Cuisinart cannot be outdone in this department.

I refuse to clutter my kitchen with gadgets galore. This multitasker eliminates any need for a separate food processor. The detachable one it comes with can easily tackle the average chef's quantity/quality needs. (It meets the needs of my household of 4).

Some people may prefer to have a separate 10 lb. food processor, complete with menacing blades ready to slice up the unsuspecting un-loader of the dishwasher....Not I.

I highly recommend the SmartPower duet to anyone who wants to preserve counter/cupboard space (read: sanity). A wise investment on my part, absolutely NO regrets!

Oh, and it crushes ice like a champ, great for margaritas, slushees, whatever.

Customer Review: Well...

I really liked it until the motor gave out. I haven't put particularly heavy use on it, but have used it fairly regularly and liked the results. It is somewhat problematic trying to get everything to mix thouroughly if you don't add a fairly substantial amount of liquid, but that is typical for a blender. Also, it is loud, but also at a level typical for a blender.

My BIG problem with it is that Cuisinart will be glad to replace the motor but I have to pay to ship it to them and then pay them $10 to ship it back. What kind of lousy warranty policy is that? Granted, compared to the $120 sticker price, it is probably worth it, but it is almost a quarter of what it would cost to buy the the thing once the discounting from the online retailers is taken into consideration. It has shown itself to be an unreliable product and Cuisinart doesn't stand behind it. What a combination!

Customer Review: Cuisinart SmartPower Duet blender/food processor
Summary: 4 Stars

We were in the market for a new blender, but once we saw this product with a larger food processor that would be convenient, we were sold. The product is well made and relatively easy to clean. When we first received it, my wife took everything apart and washed the parts in the dish washer. When we first used the product, it was somewhat difficult to get all the parts back together properly. I'd suggest doing the blender and food processor separately to avoid having to figure out what goes where. The product performs as advertised. Like that the electrical cord can be shortened easily (stows in base). We are very happy thus far. Little concerned with some of the other reviews that state that the link between the motor base and the blender is weak, but this product has been on the market for 5+ years and I think this area has been made more durable.

Customer Review: two for the price of one...too good to be true?
Summary: 3 Stars

This product is great for those who enjoy the convenience of having two mediocre products in one.

The putative food processor is so small and the parts are fitted together not so well... I feel it takes me a full hour of multiple attempts to get all the parts fitted together, so I can then chop half an onion. It is not the same quality as the full-size Cuisinart food processors (in those the parts fit together really well... satisfying "click" and then it is securely assembled). These parts are cheaper and more cheaply made and it takes so much effort (and lots of cursing) to get it assembled and disassembled. I no longer use this feature, as I do have a full-size Cuisinart.

The blender part works just fine. I can only hope it continues to do so... It has no problem pureeing the frozen fruit for my whey shakes.

Customer Review: Almost a good product

I needed to replace my Blender and also wanted to buy a small food processor so this sounded like a great idea from a reputable company. As noted elsewhere - the Blender is LOUD. When I make my daily Smoothie the Blender hops around and you have to hold the pitcher down on the base. But it DOES get the job done.
The Food Processor works well. BUT - it comes with the 'S' blade and one cutting/shredding disk only. There are NO other ones available as in other brands and models. NO GOOD. The slicing side has about a 2mm cut which is OK for paper thin cucumbers but NO good for potatoes other than maybe potato chips. I need the larger slice for breakfast, sliced zucchini, and so on.
I am giving my Duo away and getting some other model that is more rugged and has food processor attachments. Still like Cuisinart - just not the Duo.
