Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Cuisinart BDH-2 Blade and Disc Holder

Customer Review: Great Little Holder
Summary: 5 Stars

I bought this as a gift for my wife for Christmas. This item holds the blades perfectly and keeps them locked in this item so that no one can get to them who shouldn't, such as children. The blades are very sharp and this product will give you peace of mind as you leave them on the counter instead of inside some easily accessible Tupperware container as we used to. Just to fill it up I had to buy one more disc to add to the collection for it to be full.

It is well constructed and doesn't break. We dropped it the first day, and not even a scratch on it.
It doesn't take up much space on the counter, and leaves the blades and parts accessible to those who need to use it.

Customer Review: Nice idea, BAD design
Summary: 3 Stars

So, you buy a Cuisinart and suddenly you have 3 or four round blades, one chopping blade a dough blade and a few other pieces that are amazingly sharp. The trouble is, you have no place to put these blades! The obvious solution is the Cuisinart blade and disk holder. You might even question why they dont just charge more and add this into the box with the food processor!!!!!

OK, You buy it and all is well with the world again... until the plastic starts cracking and the whole lock mechanism breaks off.

Unfortunately, you kind of have to buy this item.. where else are you going to keep your blades?! Even more unfortunately, the plastic is cheap and brittle.

Customer Review: What this device needs...
Summary: 3 Stars

A better locking mechanism. The 'pull and twist'"handle"/knob for the lock is very difficult if fingers are wet---not uncommon when cleaning and preparing vegetables. My chief complaint, however, is the lack of disc holders. I used to own a Cuisinart disc holder that would store up to six discs. These accessories were readily available at local retailers, and I remember that there once was a disc holder that accomodated up to 10 discs. These were a great way to keep a variety of discs handy. Why are these no longer available? Why are they not being sold at retail along with the food processors?
A separate holder for the blades would be useful.....

Customer Review: Buy this with your Cuisinart
Summary: 5 Stars

I got a Cuisinart as a gift and didn't know how to store the blades. They are way too sharp to put in a drawer. I kept the whole box on top of a cabinet for an entire year just to store the sharp blades. Not the most convenient solution when I use the Cuisinart at least once a week. I finally came across this blade holder and it solved my problem. Now all the blades are behind the Cuisinart in the corner of my counter. It's so much more efficient to keep everything together in the same area. And when you close the top of the holder it locks shut so it will not open easily/accidentally for children.

Customer Review: Good, but could be better
Summary: 4 Stars

This product does exactly what is says it will, and does it well. My only real problem with it is the size; there's only room for three circular blades. I'd be much happier if there were slots for at least four, preferably five.
I've seen other reviewers mention as a drawback the way the lid is secured, and I agree it could be better, but it's not that bad, and when you keep in mind that these blades are sharp, making you take time to access them isn't that bad a decision.
Bottom line: Recommended. Even with a few faults, it's a big improvement over leaving the blades loose in a drawer.
