For the price this product should work flawlessly and it does not. I contemplated giving it three stars for the fact that it does provide satisfactory storage for the Cuisinart attachments, yet there is regular frustration when storing it in a lower cupboard and trying to use it from above, where it is very difficult to pick up easily, given its design, and it is much harder to open, especially if you have adult-sized hands and fingers. The knob is nearly impossible to use and I may have to wrap it in electrical tape to provide a larger area to grasp onto to turn the knob. As said, when trying to do this from above it is nearly impossible and requires lowering to the level of the device and using two hands just to open it up, and even that is incredibly awkward. Very bad product design on this, in terms of the knob and how the product is used. And I agree with another comment that it is overpriced for what it is -- unless, that is, it worked flawlessly, which it should. The company should make the necessary changes to this design and then test them in real-world usage scenarios, trying to open it when it is in a cabinet below the countertop. Even on the countertop it is hard to open. A new knob design and an easier way to hold onto the device are needed, as well as changing the clear-plastic dome so it does not get in the way of trying to open up the holder itself. 2 stars, which translates into 40% of a good job on a design that should be 100%. It may be necessary to purchase to deal with the blades and disks, yet until it is improved it can be a regular frustration when using the Cuisinart food processor, which itself is excellent. Hopefully someone from the company is listening.
Description of Cuisinart BDH-2 Blade and Disc Holder
Safely stores chopping blade, dough blade disc stem and 3 discs. Holds steel blade, dough blade, detachable disc stem, and three cutting discs. Transparent lid locks for tamper-resistant safety. Constructed of high-impact plastic.This simple unit provides safe, convenient, and attractive countertop storage for three Cuisinart blades and three cutting disks. It's designed to be used as stand-alone storage or side by side with Cuisinart's supplemental disk holder. The effective tamper-resistant locking device must be pulled out and twisted 90 degrees to access the cutting tools, and it automatically relocks when the lid is closed. Blades cannot be accessed via the open bottom, and disks can only be removed through the locking top. Moreover, when all three storage slots are occupied, the cutting edges of each disk are completely protected. Each blade holder is shaped to snugly fit its designated blade. High-impact plastic and external surfaces are smooth and curved to facilitate cleaning. --Toni Reineke
