Customer Review: Waste of money

I bought 2 muffin-top pans, for the same reason everyone else did. Because muffin-tops are moist and soft when torn from a normal shaped muffin. I've made 2 batches of muffins with the muffin-top pans and both turned out badly.
The so-called "muffin-tops" made with this pan taste nothing like the muffin-tops I'm used to. For starters, the "muffin-top" this pan creates is wide, but extremely thin. After making the first batch with blueberry muffin batter, the so-called "muffin-tops" more closely resembled a pancake. I was so let down that I immediately made a second batch, again with blueberry muffin batter. The second time I tried overfilling the cups with extra batter to make a puffier "muffin-top", but it still didn't help. The second batch of muffin-tops were still extremely thin, with a sad little mushroom shape on top. The second time, the blueberry "muffin-top" resembled a blueberry biscuit.
Also, the wide circumference of the cup allows the batter to have more contact with metal, than a normal sized muffin cup. The wideness of the cup creates more brown, stiff "crust" on the bottom and sides than a normal shaped muffin. This brown "crust" is dry and my least favorite part of a muffin, so why would I want a wide muffin cup that just creates more crust? I believe the wide shape also causes the "muffin-top" to lose moisture as it's baking.
I don't believe there's any way this muffin-top pan will ever recreate the delicious muffin-tops that you tear off a normal shaped muffin. I can usually bake a mean muffin, so I feel qualified to give this pan a big thumbs down.
