Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Cuisinart 722-36H Chef's Classic Stainless 14-Inch Open Skillet with Helper Handle

Customer Review: not same quality as 12"
Summary: 3 Stars

Like most of this line, the 12" version of this pan is an excellent pan and value, and seldom leaves my range top. The 14" however is a disappointment because its material/construction is not nearly as heavy-duty. Notably, unlike the 12" pan the 14" is NOT stamped "18/10". Another telltale is that the 14" weighs only 4 oz. more than the 12". Result: relatively lower thermal mass, less even heat distribution and retention, more hot spots and burning. In fairness, the larger diameter will put the much thinner sides farther away from most ranges flame, but I wish they'd made the base at least as heavy duty- as the 12". Caveat emptor!

Customer Review: Great for Oven Roasting
Summary: 5 Stars

I needed a nice roasting pan that would incorporate a 6 lb New York Strip roast for dinner party. The roast seared perfectly on high heat on the stove top and then went in the oven @ 450 for 15 minutes then 350 for another 25 or so. Turned out perfect. Especially considering the price I would highly recommend this pan for oven roasting any high grade cut of beef roast, pork loin, or a nice rack of lamb (my next "project"). Nice and heavy, looks gorgeous and cleans up well, although it barely fits in my sink... I guess that would be the only draw back in that it is huge.

Customer Review: Cuissinart Chef's Classic 14-inch skillet
Summary: 5 Stars

Bought this skillet on an impulse buy while on vacation in Boulder CO, not thinking what a hassle it would be to pack for the plane. Got it home and made paiella and it worked great. Even heat over two gas burners. Just a light crustiness to the rice. Very impressed. Next night I used it for stir fry. This worked great as well. I don't know how I made do all these years without a 14" skillet. And such a bargain! This big pan cost less than Cusinart's smaller pans and it does so much more.

Customer Review: Very good pan and great price
Summary: 4 Stars

We recently purchased a high power gas range that could adequately heat a pan of this size. A large skillet allows a greater quantity of food to be cooked without crowding. This one heats quickly and evenly--all you can ask for. It seems of comparable quality and weight to pans that are much more expensive. Although it is not non-stick, it has cleaned up very easily after using it to brown meats. This is an excellent pan and a great value.

Customer Review: This thing is HUGE
Summary: 5 Stars

I haven't cooked with this pan yet, but it is absolutely HUGE. Probably waaaay too big for me. It literally covers at least 1/3 of my stove. Not 1/3 of a burner, 1/3 of the stove. If my stove was any smaller, it could use two burners. Just a note to those who have average or small stoves, since it didn't even cross my mind.

But it is the best looking pan I have ever had, maybe it is supposed to be a decoration or something?
