Customer Review: Okay, but....

The 10" pan is what's left of the Cuisinart set that I purchased about five years ago. I still have the stock pot, but because I need a 12-16Qt size, it gets little use.
This pan has a single layer of stainless steel with a tri-ply base. The part of the pan that the base covers is in wonderful condition although it spends its life on the gas stove. The handle is serviceable, and doesn't heat up easily.
It's too bad that the base doesn't cover the entire pan, or else I'd still be using it as regularly as I use the few pieces of All-Clad that I found either on sale or at TJ Maxx or Marshall's. The sides of the pan tend to burn easily, are more difficult to clean than the bottom, and have turned bluish from the outside because of occasional high heat (my bad). If I'm searing something that rests on the sides of the pan, I don't use it. And that's why the rest of the set has gone away. The base even started loosening from one of the pieces!
For the price, it's not too bad, I guess. But I'd save up my pennies and get a fully clad tri-ply or better that will last you a lifetime. I am still using the "try it" size 8 in. All Clad pan that I purchased nearly eight years ago that still works and looks great. I'm done with bargain cookware and am now saving up for a better, longer-lasting set. For what I've spent in cheaper cookware, I could have purchased a quality set once and been much better off.
