Thetwo quart capacity is simply a mustitem for sngles and couples; just therightsize to prepare two large servings of your favorite rice or two or three ample soup servings.The high walls preventmostboilovers(precious when boiling milk, as boilovers are murder on potsand pans and milk boilovers are near thetop of'the worst as do flour thickened sauces, paticularly on electric ranges.while thealuminum is just a disc encapsuled in the bottom, hence NOT "clad'. in home use clad cookware is overkill and so heavy as to present stress to many cooks.Cuisinart and the latest Farberware "classic" lines are nearly identical in this respect. the Farbeware lids are much thinner but thefit is muchbetter(internal and holds by friction. The Cuisinart are much heavier and sit ontop of the pan quite securely. an item of display andgood looks thelooks oftheCuisinart lid is much morettractive if you hang your cookware in a visinle manner and the lid's handle is metal versus a bakelite knob on the Farbeware;I'd buy by price, not emotion and amazon offers both at sensationally low pricesI add: unless you have the forearmsand wrists of an olympic eweighlifter: stay away from clad cookware and probably from cast iron as well, cooking performance not withstandingCalphalon'sclaim tothe contrary, stainlesssteel cookwqare with encapsuled alumnumbas is thebest all around cookware; just get one "nonstick"omelette pan for eggs 9 inch foromelets, 10 nch for 2 or 3sunny side up for more friedeggs ,get a two burner griddle; stainless istruly a cinchtoclean and the polished surfaces brighten your kitchen whilematteblack anodized ones gobble up light, makingithrderto view thefood ('nuf said?)
