Customer Review: Poor design

I bought this for my daughter, who is a skillful cook. She uses European saucepans, so I was pleased to see that on the maker's web site this is described as a 20 cm. pan - i.e. metric. Its curved base looked like a good idea, and Cuisinart pans are generally well made.
It proved to be useless on my daughter's metric pans, and I suspect on imperial ones as well, because it has so little depth of entry into the pan which contains the water, and its handle is so heavy, that it must be held at all times to prevent it falling over. Maybe it is a tight enough fit to work on some kinds of pan, but then I'd fear it would jam on as it expanded whilst heating up. Whatever, I would not advise you to buy this without seeing it and verifying that it will work with the pan you intend to use it with.
Bear in mind also that this is a commercial-sized pan. Dinner parties of fewer than ten would be better provided for by a smaller pan!
The quality of material looked high, the handle was nice and solid to hold, the lid was well made. But the overall design of the pan itself is faulty.
