Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Cuisinart 625-30D Chef's Classic Nonstick Hard-Anodized 12-Inch Everyday Pan with Medium Dome Cover

Customer Review: Great everyday pan!
Summary: 5 Stars

I read the reviews prior to buying this pan and I figured for the price, I'll see how it works out. I've had the pan for 2 weeks now and I've cooked with it multiple times (sometimes one dish after another). I have to say that it's now one of my favorite pans to cook with!! The nonstick material is nice, I find myself using less oil for sauteeing and it gives an even browning to the meats I sear. I understand that some people have commented about the weight of the pan, that it seems to be a little on the lighter side (half the weight of my other hard anodized set). I was worried at first, being that the cover was actually heavier than the pan. So far though, the lightness of the pan has been an advantage to me when I sautee veggies and caramelize onions and sometimes I have to pick up the pan with one hand. The size is perfect since I always find myself needing more room when I use the 10-inch skillet I have. I haven't noticed it warp or do anything it's not supposed to. It's also a good looking pan, like others, I find myself leaving it on top of my stove since I use it all the time and it's not bad to look at. The clean up is also a breeze! I get that you get what you pay for so we shall see how it holds up a year from now with everyday use. All in all, I really can't complain!!

Customer Review: Nonstick does NOT last!!
Summary: 2 Stars

I bought this pan back in February when i was looking for a 12-inch pan. I normally only get Circulon cookware, but this cuisinart pan seemed to be such a good deal I decided to go against my better judgement and purchased it. Like many who reviewed this pan, it was my absolute favorite for the first few months. It's super light for the size which is great!! You can stick it into the oven up to 500 degrees was great too(the highest temp i stuck it in was 375)!! Super easy to clean, and I barely needed any oil when i first got it, because the food released well. But after less than 6 months of usage, it no longer is non-stick. I only used plastic utensils that were designed for non-stick ware, and only used the soft side of sponge to wash it, but the coating started coming off and i would need like a tablespoon of oil to cook one sunny side up egg without it sticking. I've had my circulon sets for years(all of them at least 4 years old), and I cooked the cr@p out of them, and I can honestly say, they are still non-stick and look great(they stand up to abuse big time). If you are thinking of getting this pan, i suggest the stainless steel one of this version instead. Cuisine art still makes pretty good stainless steel products.

Customer Review: Most Versatile Pan In The Kitchen
Summary: 5 Stars

I am so pleased with this pan. I haven't stopped using it since it was received. The size is perfect for everything from a batch of sauteed shrimp for two to frying a whole small to medium size cut up chicken. The domed lid which comes with it is great. The arc of the dome leaves plenty of room. The pan heats evenly. Food on the sides cook just as well as food in the center of the pan (of coarse your burner has to work properly). A great feature is that you can put this in the oven too as all parts are metal. It says it's dishwasher safe but it's so easy to clean that I just wash it out with a soapy sponge to extend the life of this piece. For the money I think this is a GREAT deal. I wouldn't be without it now that I've had the opportunity to cook with it. I can't wait for my first batch of swiss chard and spinich from the garden. This pan will be great because the size will accommodate the huge mound you need to start with to end up with a batch of sauteed green for two to 4 people. As always delivery was fast. The only note I will make is that the handles do get hot so be sure to use pot holders when you pick it up by the handles after cooking with it.

Customer Review: Must have pan
Summary: 5 Stars

This pan can't be beat for the money. I love not having a long handle. Finally, I have a nonstick pan that can go from stovetop to oven and even has the benefit of a glass cover. I have been using this pan for 2 mos. and isn't showing any wear yet. I do use plastic utensils, don't put in dishwasher and I don't soak in water while hot, but you don't need to do any of these things. I plan on buying another one just in case Cuisinart decides to discontinue this pan (PLEASE DON'T). I received Calphalon's nonstick pan as a gift and I was religous about not using cooking sprays on it,as advised, and I still had buildup which when I tried to remove, removed the nonstick finish along with it. Had to throw that pan away. A real health hazard in my opinion. Bottom line - if this pan only lasts a few years, it is still worth the $25 price thru Amazon. Get it. If using electric stovetop, just don't put the heat up too high - you really don't need to do that. The only downside I can find is that I feel the handles do get a little hot sometimes, but a potholder fixes that. It also fits in my small double sink to wash because I don't have a handle to accomodate. Love it.

Customer Review: Best value pan
Summary: 5 Stars

I've owned the Cuisinart nonstick everyday pan for almost 2 years (bought it in February 2007), and it quickly became my go-to pan for virtually anything I saute, fry, or braise. I have a repetoire of braised chicken dishes and this pan accommodates a whole cut-up 3 to 4 lb chicken with no problem. It browns foods beautifully, as when I prepare chicken for braising or make chicken cutlets and breaded fish fillets. I use it to create myriad pasta sauces, as the wide 12-inch pan helps evaporate liquid fast and concentrates flavors. I love the glass domed lid, which, again, is wonderful for all the braised chicken dishes I make in that I can see how the food is cooking and adjust the heat without opening the lid to look. This is really the best pan of its type for the price I paid, which in 2007 was $25. A true best value.

edited on 4/6/09 -- I see that the price has gone up considerably since I bought this pan in 2007. Well, I believe it's still worth every penny. Great pan. I use is almost daily. The stainless steel version, too. Also a fabulous pan.
