These knives are absolute junk. While the blades are sharp, the quality overall is poor. I have owned these knives for 1.5 weeks now and have had one handle crack already and two blades get rusty!
I tried to reach Cuisinart Customer Service via phone and email. Neither one was successful. On the phone I was lost twice in the transfer, or could not reach (M-F 8-5)(please note that the phone number on the warranty card is not for knives). Via email i received no response after 1 week.
I would have expected more from a company such as Cuisinart, but it comes down to this: Do not buy these cheap Chinese knives.

My wife and I received this set as a wedding gift a couple years ago. In that time, nine of the handles have cracked, all in the same place: along the uppermost rivet. We tested one of these knives in the dishwasher, and since the color immediately faded, we have taken care to always wash these knives by hand. No matter. I'm not sure if it's exposure to water, or some other factor which causes them to crack, but these knives are absolutely awful and not worth a purchase.
There really should have been a recall on these knives, as any knife with a propensity for indiscriminately cracking is a danger to the user.

I too had several knives with cracks around the rivets. However, when I called Cuisinart and left a voice mail, they returned my call within 2 days are are sending me a replacement set. I was offered either black or stainless steel handles on the replacement set. They said they are aware the red handle set has problems. The toll free number is 800-999-2811 extension 2553. I called the wrong one first and they transferred me to this one. Hopes this helps everyone! I really like the knives, and would have given them a five star rating if hadn't had the handle issue.Customer Review: Cracks & Rust

I just bought this set on sale and you definite get what you pay for. All the larger knives have small cracks in the plastic handles. But more importantly, they develop rust spots no matter how careful you are. The 8" Chefs knife rusted after my first use. I removed the rust, lightly oiled the knife and was made sure to complete dry each knife after washing only to find the rust came back. The metal is very poor quality and after 2.5 weeks of regular use the blades are starting to dull. I am returning these knives. I highly recommend that you do not buy them.Customer Review: Great with one drawback

I have owned these knives for 4+ years. They are still sharp. They look nice. The steak knives are great. The only drawback I have found is with the handles. A number of my handles have cracked. If you look at the image, you see the silver circles withing the black or maroon handle. The cracks have appeard from edge to edge on the handle portion around the silver circle. I have never placed these knives in the dishwasher, so I suspect that it is just a defect of the product. But, for the price, I would buy them again and again.
