Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Cucina Pro Folding Food SlicerCustomer Review: Messy, hard to handle Summary: 2 Stars
I don't know about anyone else, but I have sliced meats and vegetables with this slicer and it is messy and hard to handle. When I slice meats, if I use the lowest setting it shreds it and ends up everywhere. So I use a larger setting, and if you don't pull the meat out after you have sliced a few slices, it gets caught up in the blade and ends up everywhere. Seems to work well with lettuce and tomatoes, but I bought it to slice meats. You really need three or four hands with this machine. Though I liked the idea of fold up, it doesn't make up for the mess and difficulty in using it. One hand has to remain on the button to keep it running, for safety reasons, while the other hand has to push against the slicer to slice the meat. I have kept it too long to return it so I will keep it, but to me it's not worth the price. Though I'm not sure other slicers in the same price range would be any better. As far as clean up goes, another problem. Because the meat gets shredded and caught in the blade and crevices, you have to clean the whole machine but the motor does not come apart, so you have to hang onto it with one hand and try to clean it over the sink with the other. My last attempt landed the whole thing in my sink of dishwater, so now I'm not sure it will ever work again. Definitely, should have sent it back. Oh well. Hope you have better luck.
