Used this one time. Cooked great. After cooking I unplugged the pot allowing it to cool. I heard a loud snap, looked over and saw the ceramic lid split right down the middle. After 3 calls (over a month) to Rival customer support they are finally sending me a replacement lid. They need to make the lid out of a material other than ceramic.
UPDATE: I finally got my replacement lid. It came with a whole new Crock-Pot attached. I have restored faith in Rival. They stand behind their product. Hopefully this lid won't break.

I purchased this Crockpot from Amazon 6 months ago and the non stick coating or whatever type coating they use is flaking off leaving little black flecks(I have never used metal utensils either) in your food.... as well as other problems...such as not turning on when you flip the switch. I have to unplug it, wait and hope that it turns on.
I am afraid to use it now because of possible electrical problems with the control switch and the flaking of the non stick coating.
DO NOT BUY THIS....IT SHOULD BE RECALLED!

This is a wonderful slow cooker! I researched them all for quite a while and read all reviews. I wanted something large enough but that was versatile and did not cost a fortune. This appliance is by far the best on the market. I have made several meals in it and every time it cooked great. The low is just below a boil and the switch to warm feature is nice. I definitely recommend this to all who want a well made, reliable, programmable cooker. And the price was right too - just $60 at Amazon. Bon Appétit!Customer Review: Not Exactly

I already had a Rival Smart Pot and love it. I got this one for my vacation home but do not like it as much. First it was not as pictured on Amazon (the words Crock Pot was not embossed on the cover. Second, the description did not say you could not use the ceramic insert directly on an electric stove and you must use a grill on the bottom. I would not do this not to scratch my stovetop. I used it once and it does cook on a high temperature so you must use it for less time. I like it but not exactly what I wanted.Customer Review: Good product

We purchased this item about a month ago and regularly cook with it. Overall it is a very good product. Downside is that the outside (metal sides and bottom) get extremely hot, as a result we place it on a surface that cannot get damaged by heat. Upside, cooks very well and functions exactly like a crockpot should. It reminds me of my mothers 20+ year old crockpot and that is a good thing. Also, the pre-braising inside the crockpot is a fantastic feature, don't buy a crockpot without it, saves time and dishes.
