Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Crock-Pot SCR151-WG 1-1/2-Quart Round-Shaped Manual Slow Cooker, White

Customer Review: Major Disappointment
Summary: 1 Stars

I bought the Rival 1.5 qt. Crockpot thinking it would be just right for my bachelor household. I couldn't have been more wrong. It's too small to make practically anything, particularly if you want leftovers. It has only one heat setting (supposedly low), and if you fill it up with soup, It takes forever. However, if you only fill it up halfway (e.g., kielbasa & saurkraut), it will burn it. There's no way I would leave this plugged in and leave the house. It has no handles, and the outside gets surprisingly hot. I'm waiting for a larger replacement, and from a different company. This was a major disappointment, and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

Customer Review: Great for Indian cooking for dhals, biriyani & more
Summary: 5 Stars

A friend gave this as a gift to me, and I did not use it for over 6 months. Once I did, I was pleasantly surprised at how well this slow cooker cooks lentils. I put the lentils with the water into the pot in the morning, and have cooked lentils for dinner.
I've put my pressure cooker away since this cooks without any mess.
It works well for Indian sambar, rasam, chole, vegetable curries and biriyani.
Indian cooking can be messy and the slow cooker helps to keep the kitchen very clean and without splatters.

Customer Review: not a good crockpot
Summary: 2 Stars

I have been using crockpots and cooking successfully in them for years, and this was my third. I wanted a small crock for morning cereal and dips. This crockpot has a major defect - no heat settings. It is either on or off. There is no low vs high. Hence my first attempt at cereal making resulting in the cereal burning on the bottom of the crock, and on the sides. What a surprise! This crock is being returned and I am going to try the Proctor Silex 1.5, which has three temp settings for a similar price.

Customer Review: Crockpot .....Great for making my cut oats for breakfast.
Summary: 5 Stars

If you enjoy cut oats for breakfast and don't want to wait for water to boil and then stand stirring for a half hour, this crockpot is the answer. I place four cups of water and one cup of oats in, plug it in and let it go........it is much slower, but you do not have to be so involved. Stir it once or twice and you can store the unused portion in the ceramic bowl in your fridge.

Customer Review: Rival Crock-Pot
Summary: 4 Stars

This crockpot is just the right size for my spouse and I. What I didn't like about it was that it has no on/off switch, and it cooks a little too hot. It says on the package that it cooks on the same low setting as the bigger ones, but I found that it was higher than that. My food did turn out OK, but it's a good thing I was home to check on it, or it would have burned!
