Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Crock-Pot 5025WG 2.5-Quart Slow Cooker

Customer Review: CAUTION; cooks way too hot!
Summary: 1 Stars

I've owned several rival crock pots for over 36 years and have never been disappointed UNTIL NOW. I bought this crock pot because I trusted the brand and and was looking for a smaller size and I thought this would be perfect. I put 2 chicken breasts in and some spaghetti sauce and turned it on low. All I can say is I've used crock pots for years and this is the first time I had one boil over in less than three hours AND on the low setting. I'd hate to think what could happened if I ever used the high setting. What a mess! If you're thinking of purchasing this please think twice as it could be considered a fire hazard.

Customer Review: Rival 2 1/2 Crockpot
Summary: 5 Stars

Believe it or not, I have never owned a crockpot, and I am 60 years old. I decided to purchase one and enjoy making some comfort foods for myself. I love this little inexpensive crockpot, in fact my sister says that I am going to wear it out. Even though I no longer work, I love putting everything in it, and enjoying the aroma as it cooks, and then later in the day have a wonderful meal, such as my beef barley stew, chicken soup, pineapple pork chops over rice, and now I am going to make some rice pudding and bread pudding. For the money, you could not get a better little crockpot, and I highly recommend it. Enjoy!

Customer Review: Cheaply Constructed
Summary: 2 Stars

The crock pot is the perfect size for small dips and stews. However the crock pot is poorly constructed compared to other Rival crock pots. (1) The crock pot is slippery. The crock pot must be placed onto a surface with something that has grip. The feet are slippery and the crock pot will go on an excursion on the kitchen counter while stirring the contents. (2) The lid is does not fit snug at all. (3) The removable pot is also ill-fitting. Not up to snuff with other Rival products. Perhaps that is why you can purchase this item for less than $20 or $15.

Customer Review: Awesome little crock!
Summary: 5 Stars

I own four Rival sow cookers and this one gets used most. It can hold a lot more than it appears. I use it to cook small roasts, warm hot dogs for teh kids, make side dishes, for pasta dishes, to bake potatoes and yams, for rice pudding and so much more! My larger Rival crocks have had problems such as the handles breaking off from the lid or the heating element stop working, but this one keeps on going. We are a family of 6 and find so many uses for this little crock. It is a great investment and a great price!

Customer Review: Great for smaller meals
Summary: 5 Stars

I have a large 6 quart slow cooker that I rarely use, being single. It took some looking to find a smaller but still big enough for 2 or 3 meals cooker, 2.5 qt turned out perfect. I've done stew and chili and there's a basic cookbook that comes with it, but beware the time you set it to as someone else here mentioned, the 2.5 heats up quicker and cooks faster. The book said 6 hours for my beef stew but it was at the falling apart stage in just over 2 hrs. I guess the book is meant for the bigger cookers.
