Customer Review: This is not superior to other spatulas

DO NOT BUY THIS IF YOU HAVE SOMETHING SIMILAR! They all do the same function - help lift items off a tacky mat. This is very expensive compared to other spatulas on the market. I got a making memories spatula from their full kit (which actually is worth it because you get tweezer, and some other useful tools for just a little more than what this spatula costs).
This SHOULD come with the machine - it's essential, you need this to get the paper (or whatever you're cutting) off the mat. (Also for the price point, they should have packaged a few extra mats - you will blow through them if you don't set your blade depth right). The Cricut mats are extra sticky and for what you're cutting, you do need a spatula to get it off the mat.
I would also recommend getting tweezers with a small pointy end. Not the slanted flat end, but the pointy one. It would help get anything that you cut that's delicate AND lift pieces that might get stuck on your cricut mat (because they are really tacky).

I love my Cricut, but this spatula with use really isn't worth the money. It was to designed to help you remove what's been cut off of the Cricut mats, and while it does help you do this, it also picks up a lot of the sticky adhesive from the mats, which can then interfere with the effectiveness of the tool for future cuts. I tried to clean it with finger nail polish remover (what I always use to clean stickers off anything) but it never really was like new again. Additionally, with normal use, the large spatula area became bent. I prefer my Creative Memories tool, that has much less surface area and does a better job of picking up my beautiful letters from the mats. i ordered this item on december 7, with plenty of time to have it by Christmas. (the write up says it ships in 5 - 7 days). well, the week before Christmas i get an email saying this item will now not arrive until the middle of january!!! i really needed this for Christmas day, so i ended up going to hobby lobby and purchasing it there on sale... cheaper than $5.99!
well, today is december 24. guess what showed up in the mail today?? yep... the cricut spatula! now i have to return one of them. i would love to return the amazon spatula. however, at this point i think it may almost be easier to return the hobby lobby one.
the product is nice, but i had a frustrating experience! if you order this online, don't expect to have it in a timely manner!

I really liked the spatula tool when I first got it. It's a lot better than trying to use my fingernails to get the paper off the sticky mat. But if the paper is delicate, or a delicate design, it crinkles the paper, and doesn't keep it nice. I also feel that it scrapes off some of the stickiness of the mat, so it doesn't last as long. Later I bought the cricut 'tool set' (not sure if that's exactly what it's called) but I like it a TON better! The tools are smaller and work Great! If I would have known, I would have bought those only and not the spatula at all.Customer Review: Handy Little Gadget

PRO: This is a terrific little tool for picking up papers from sticky Cricut cutting mats. It gets yucked up pretty easily, so I keep my bottle of "Goo Gone" handy to wipe off all that sticky residue regularly.
CON: This is absurdly expensive, for what it is. And it should be included with the cutting machines, as it's practically impossible to use the machines without the tool to get the paper up. I do believe that not including this in these (hundreds of dollars) machines is the height of greed.
