Customer Review: Pretty Delicate for a Wood Piece

I was looking for an aesthetically pleasing trivet that was adjustable so I could use it for multiple sized pots/pans/dishes in my Manhattan apartment (where it's important to have multi-functional things due to lack of space). It has a smooth finish with a simple design (I'd call it Danish modern if it was a table!). I loved the piece when it arrived and was able to use it for about a month.
Unfortunately I accidentally knocked the trivet off a shelf that was next to my oven, 18 inches off the ground. Both ends that slide to expand the trivet snapped in half. There was a seam (undetectable before it was broken) down the middle of each expandable end and it was a clean snap in half rendering the trivet completely useless.
I tried to fix it using one of those all purpose Gorilla Glue things but it didn't hold. Total waste.
