Customer Review: It's Just Corelle, That's All

I got this Corelle set at Wal-Mart about five or six years ago, when I started a new, single life. It's been a good set and I'm not particularly careful with dishes. Not one of these suckers has broken, not even the cups that came with the set.
I do like them because they're lightweight and easy to handle (without having to be careful). They look pretty good for an old single guy to have, too. I'd say the same if I were a young college kid again. In fact, my wife and I had a set when we were getting started, probably about the time Corelle first came out.*
So if none broke, why did I order four of these luncheon sized plates?
Simple. I finally decided I'd like something between the little salad plates and big dinner plates. This is a great size that I'm already using more than the others.
Why didn't you tell me sooner?
* I got curious and checked. Yep, we had our two kids by then.
Corelle is a brand of glassware and dishware. It is made of Vitrelle, a laminated tempered glass product with three layers of two types of glass. The thermally bonded layers give Corelle its strength, allowing it to be much thinner than other dinnerware. Introduced by Corning Glass Works in 1970, it is now sold by World Kitchen. Corelle is chemical resistant, durable, and lightweight: A typical Corelle dinner plate measuring 26 centimeters across weighs 355 grams.
