We bought 2 of these sets three and a half years ago after life with children proved to be not stoneware-friendly. We found these, really liked the design and that the set included saucers, shopped around for the best price and finally placed an order with Amazon. We received both sets completely intact. I read some reviews where people noted that the actual design on these plates is not as bright as on the computer screen. Either my computer screen is dull or i got particularly bright sets, but I saw little difference in vibrancy of the colors.
Pros: 1) The dishes are very lightweight, thin and compact - two sets occupy as much space as my one stoneware set used to. (For people who need their dishes to feel like real china would definitely find this to be a big drawback. However, I found that Corelle now makes thicker dishes that feel more real.) 2) Though thin, they are very durable. The plates had been dropped on numerous occasions, but so far only 1 had bit the dust upon being dropped on the tile floor. That means I can ask my 3 year old to put his dirty dishes in the sink without the fear that he will break them in the process. I honestly don't know how people with kids have dishes other than Corelle. 3) There is no chipping or fading of the colors (however, we wash by hand, not in the dishwasher) after three and a half years of every day heavy use. 4) Saucers. Did I mention that this set has them? There are many sets that don't include them, but this one does. Can you tell saucers are really important to me? 5) Design is very pretty: we received many compliments on these dishes.
Cons: 1) When Corelle breaks, its breaks. Our one plate that broke, broke into a million tiny and very sharp pieces, which were very hard to clean up. 2) cups are made out of thick stoneware, which breaks very easily and is not as durable as plates. 3) Not really a con, just an observation - I would love to see a design on Corelle bowls. They are very plain - white with a colored border.
Overall, nice design, good quality, excellent value for your money and highly recommended for everyone, especially parents with young kids.
