These are sturdy and nice looking bake and serve ware but are very heavy even wihtout any food in them. I guess, they needed to be this way to withstand the temperature of the oven. If you are just looking for some nice looking bowls just for storing and serving, these are not the choice.
However,the price I paid ($15.99) is very good and I don't mind carrying a little heavier serve ware, even though I do not intend to use them in the oven.

I've used these to bake everything from a rump roast to Shepard's pie, and they are fantastic. Nice and thick porcelain meaning no burnt bottoms and a breeze to clean. The large pot will hold a 6lb roast with no problems. The smaller one is perfect for side dishes like green bean casserole or baked beans. Best part is they are pleasing to the eye and make a perfect serving dish...straight from the oven to the table.Customer Review: Fantastic deal

I ordered this after trapsing through outlets and stores for a good price. This item was 50% cheaper than other places. Corelle ware is sturdy and indestructable(I have used it for 25 years and only broken 4 pieces although I have dropped many) Easy to clean and mine looks like new still. I purchased these to replace another set of corning/corelle and I love them. They are heavy for some people, but the quality is great. They are only for oven and microwave use (my others were the actual Corning that was stovetop use as well) and I miss that, but that is what my stainless steel pots are for. Although it looks like a fashionable chinese Sha Guo, actually, it's not. Many people bought the Corning Ware because the product information here in Amazon was misleading. After I got it and read the descriptions, I found it clearly said "DO NOT USE ON STOVE", although it is oven and microwave safe.
