We purchased these cups for our 3 year-old based on the great reviews. We were not disappointed. The cups are well-constructed (not cheap) and are much better than the traditional sippy cup. Of course, no cup is perfect, and this one is no exception. While the cups are indeed leak-proof when dropped or inverted, they obviously will leak if your child inverts the cup while holding the button. My point is don't think that there will be no spills on your nice carpets, because they will still happen.
