Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Contigo AUTOSEAL Stainless Steel Vacuum Insulated Tumbler, 16 Ounces, Silver

Customer Review: I heart cup
Summary: 5 Stars

4 months, in and this was my #1 purchase around Christmas.

I've dropped it in a board room while presenting, traveled hundreds of miles with a constantly chilled red bull, and thrown it in a bag on the way home. The no-mess no-spill make it a winner, the sexy look is just a bonus. I still love hearing the vacuum sound when I click the button before a quaff.

I read all the reviews, and yes you have to clean the cup by hand, but I've never had the funk growth that people talk about. (It just makes me think they're dirty.) I don't know if the manufacture was right on how long things stay warm or cold, but 2+ hours into my day... my coffee is still warm, and 4+ hours later... I still have ice with my water. Probably going to buy everyone in my fam one this year!

Customer Review: Has some flaws
Summary: 3 Stars

I ordered this because I am in the car a lot and wanted something to keep my coffee hot for longer than the half an hour the DD travel mugs do - and something that would hold 16oz - the amount of two cups of coffee from my Keurig. This DOES keep the coffee hot for a long time but it is absolutely NOT a 16 oz mug. It does hold 16oz if you fill it up to the top - but then you can't put the cover on. The directions say to only fill it to the bottom of the internal threading - THAT would be 14 oz - so I STILL have to dump some out. The cover IS spill proof but it is virtually impossible to get it completely clean and I doubt I will be able to use it for longer than a couple of months before I get totally creeped out by what is probably growing inside the lid. It was an expensive mistake.

Customer Review: These mugs are great!
Summary: 5 Stars

I have purchased four of these mugs so far. When I lend them to friends to take out in the field, the response is always 'where did you get these?' They do not leak or spill.

Numerous times I have taken them with me on an my ATV with a coke in them. After an hour or so of bumping and sloshing around the pressure is so great in the mugs that when you hit the button it will come spewing out, yet these mugs don't leak! I have dropped them, knocked them over. I am telling you, they don't leak.

They keep hot things hot and cold things cold.

I read some of the reviews which rate these mugs a 1 or 2 stars, due to some smell in the lid. I have not experienced this. I just run supper hot soapy water over them and they are good to go.

Customer Review: I like it but......
Summary: 4 Stars

I received this as a gift and thought it was the best travel coffee mug ever made. Until, that is, I gave it a "thorough" cleaning. Although I'd clean the mug and lid after each use with liquid detergent, I discovered that the lid required a much more extensive cleaning. I was so grossed out to discover how much black gunk collects inside the lid. Cleaning the lid is really difficult/time consuming. I became concerned about the health ramifications. I added dilluted bleach to the lid and let it sit overnight. However, the bleach smell lingered and I found myself not wanting to drink from it. The bleach odor eventually aired out. I currently use baking soda with white vinegar. The two ingredients foam when combined. I still used a long bristled brush to ensure that everything is removed.

Customer Review: Better than the (Eco) TV advertised mug
Summary: 5 Stars

I mainly use this spill proof tumbler to keep liquids cold (on a hot day). As a mail carrier on the street for several hours, this is a great mug to refresh your thirst with cold liquids. The main difference between this mug and the TV advertised mug,(besides keeping liquids cold) is it can fit in your personal cooler (standing up) along with the ice packs. That TV advertised mug, is too tall for closing the "cooler" lid. In regards to hot liquids, I'd be very careful about putting excessively hot liquids in this; the cold liquids will work just fine. Another great thing about this tumbler is the push button feature that will keep any liquids from spilling on you as you drink. One last tidbit, if you put a few ice cubes to start, that will keep the liquids cold even longer. Enjoy!!!
