Customer Review: Beautiful but not as elegant as I thought

These plates are very nice and look mostly like they do in the picture. When you get them, they're more "artsy" for lack of a better word. Each plate has minor variations from the others, probably due to being hand painted. That said, they're very nice, but not nearly as sophisticated as I thought they'd be based on the pictures. The colors are beautiful and I intend to keep them. I ordered place settings for 12 during a 4-for-3 special, and all my plates arrived unscathed while 1 set of soup bowls (4) and 1 set of mugs (4) arrived broken. I requested a replacement and amazon is sending them free of charge via one day delivery.

These dishes chip VERY easily. I take extra care with them and they're already chipping.
