I bought this knife because I wanted a long one to use with the Norpro bread slicer, which is also a great item for homemade breadNorpro 370 Bread Slicerand Guide with Crumb Catcher. I have a more expensive bread slicing knife that is 7", but not only was it a little short for the Norpro bread slicer, it didn't cut anywhere near as good as this Chicago Cutlery 10" knife. I'm very happy with this knife and it definitely exceeded my expectations. I'm finally able to get evenly and cleanly sliced bread that I can use for sandwiches.Customer Review: Excellent !

Don't hesitate to buy this knife. It is the best bread knife for the money. I cannot justify paying a penny more for a different knife.
Perfect for cutting all types of baked breads. Stays sharp forever. I've had it for over 6 years, never sharpened, use it several times a week to slice bread, and haven't noticed any decrease in performance. The blade is very thick and very strong for a bread knife and will never bend when cutting even the toughest and hardest breads. The 10" blade is excellent for wider breads. Just simply a great bread knife. It has wooden handles so try to steer clear of the dishwasher.

Superb Knife!!
I recently began making homemade bread and wanted to obtain a good bread knife. Being a fugal person... I balk at the prices of "designer cutlery".
This knife is every bit as well made as those selling for triple the price (and more).
* Heavy weight high carbon stainless steel blade
* Full blade tang through handle
* Triple riveted handle
* "Business End" of the knife is a full 10"... The entire knife is actually 15", including the handle.
In a Quality/Cost ratio analysis... This knife is an absolute STEAL!!!

A recent obsession for baking bread lead to the realization that the standard bread knife included in my cutlery set wouldn't 'cut it' with fresh baked bread.
My knife simply tore the bread up.
Deciding I was now a serious bread baker meant I'd need a serious bread knife. Browsing through Amazon's selection I came upon this Chicago Cutlery beauty. The photo reminded of the same knife my mother had used in my childhood, but when it arrived it truly was bigger and better than my mom's old knife.
I love it and it doesn't tear up my bread!

This is truly a superb knife in quality and performance!! After reading the customer ratings, I was convinced to try one of these knives for myself. All of the 5 Star Customer Ratings are true!!! This knife excels in performance well above knives that are triple the price and goes beyond all expectations of the higher priced knives. I also found that if you aren't careful, it also cuts fingers too!! I totally agree with a previous customer's comments - "For price and quality, this knife is an absolute STEAL!!!
