Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Chicago Cutlery Insignia Kitchen Shears, BlackCustomer Review: Performs As Expected...And More! Summary: 5 Stars
I must say I was a bit skeptical about purchasing these Kitchen Shears...After all, they're definitely one of the cheaper if not cheapest pairs in terms of price that I've seen on Amazon. However, never fear! The scissors work like a charm. I've used them with chicken and other meats with no complaints. Recipe calls for chopped parsley? I get out the scissors and "snip, snip!" The scissors come apart at the hinge so you can stick them in the dishwasher separately and ensure they are fully clean and bacteria-free.
The other features (screwdriver, bottle opener, etc.) are not necessary but can come in handy. The jar opener is not that great if you need to open a large jar, but I didn't buy these scissors to open jars so I still say, five stars!
Customer Review: A must have in your kitchen! Summary: 5 Stars
I was skeptical when I purchased these scissors.
They certainly are better than most at sturdiness,
sharpness, durability, and ergo-matic design.
I also like the screwdriver and nutcracker? or
bottle opener? sections.
They cut through many things with ease.
I like the way it comes apart for cleaning.
I might order another pair for my kitchen because
my son used them to cut apart a few
thick pieces of rawhide chews for my dog and now
they don't seem as sharp as before.
(An axe would hardly have done the job as nicely as
these scissors!)
Thank you Chicago Cutlery for designing a great product!
Customer Review: Love Them! Summary: 5 Stars
Kitchen shears are great- a lot of stuff you see Julia Child working with a big knife? Just use these scissors. Butcher whole chickens, cut up green onions, leeks, it's just easier. I can't cut a bell pepper into pretty strips to save my life, so out come the scissors. Wonderful.
I'm a huge fan of Chicago Cutlery; the quality is excellent and the price just astonishing for what you get.
These scissors come apart at the middle for cleaning and steeling; do NOT put them in the dishwasher.
I don't really understand the multi tool things on the handles and just use a bottle opener on bottles; but the quality/ price/ convenience of these scissors says Buy Them Now.
Customer Review: Excellent tool, but not for a lifetime Summary: 4 Stars
I have used Chicago Cutlery kitchen shears for many years, and I have found them extremely useful and well-designed tools. I would note, however, that the plastic handle tends to crack over time, especially if the shears are put through the dishwasher frequently. Chicago Cutlery claims to guarantee the shears for the life of the user, but it simply isn't practical to spend the money to return them and keep documents on when they were purchased. It's just easier and cheaper to buy replacements when needed. The shears are very reasonably priced and outperform other brands that cost two or three times as much.
Customer Review: For scissors skip these....there are better Summary: 3 Stars
I've had these scissors for about a year now and use them at least once a week. On the upside they do come apart for cleaning, which is great if you use them for things like cutting up a chicken before frying. The blade is reasonably sharp and will cut cleanly through everything from paper to tough plastic packaging. The bottle opener is handy and works well too. But on the downside the handle is not very ergonomic and will put strain on your thumb when bearing down on it. So for my kitchen this pair does the light stuff only. The Fiskars are called upon when I have tough cutting or a lot of cutting.
