Now that I am sharpening knives, I must use a rod after the sharpening to recalibrate the steel and draw off miniscule bits of metal. This tends to dangle in the Chicago Cutlery knife block.

Chicago Cutlery 2-in-1 Knife sharpener combines the technology of an easy-to-use pull-though knife sharpener, the tradition of a sharpening rod, and the ergonomics of an engineered handle. This knife sharpener can be stored directly in your storage block in the sharpening steel slot or in a drawer. Better yet, the sharpening rod unscrews so you can use the handheld unit alone and then store in a drawer. Simply insert your fine edged knife into the sharpening slot and, while applying slight downward pressure on the knife edge, pull the knife out. Repeat this 3-4 times, and your knife edge will be realigned and sharpened. For you traditionalist, you can use the sharpening rod to hone your knives. It's your choice.
