Do not purchase a more expensive knife strip.......this one is a fantastic value. The only problem I have with this product, and I do wish I could give 1/2 stars, because I would give it 4.5 stars, is that there are no installation instructions included, but it is fairly simple to install: (it comes with 2 screws which act as tabs, and there are black platic slots on the back, which slide out. Simply mark where the screws will line up and screw them into place, take out one of the tabs, slide one side of the strip onto one of the screws, then slide the tab you took out back into the strip and over the screw "tab". Done.) Still, installation instructions should should have been included. This product holds a 8 inch chef's knife, a 6.5 inch santoku, 2 9 inch slicers, a 9.5 inch bread knife, and about 3 paring knives (about 2.5 inches each) and a serrated tomato slicer (about 4 inches or so). The magnet is very strong and effectively holds the knives in place. This is a much safer method for keeping knives (do NOT store knives in a drawer) and will help to keep them sharper longer. Plus, this is more sanitary than a knife block in my opinion.
So, don't spend more on another knife strip. Get this one, you will not regret it.

Bought this item several months ago. Last month, I pulled a knife out, and one of the magnets followed, detaching itself from the holster. The problem with the product is that the magnet is glued into the plastic holster, which you then fasten to the wall. A large knife with a lot of surface area (like a meat cleaver) pulls the magnet quite forcefully. There needs to be more than just glue, and I'm gonna makeshift a solution into my model (screws or something else).
The good thing is that I called Chicago Cutlery and they replaced it free of charge. Didn't even need to mail the broken one back. I'm gonna figure out a way to fasten the magnet in there better, but I'll be careful in the meantime.

Bought two of these for my man, a real "foodie," an experimental cook, and the ultimate collector of high-quality knives.
He and I both are really impressed with this find. Really quality product.

These are up in our kitchen side by side horizontally, with the knives hanging diagonally on them. A friend has knife strips stacked vertically on a tiny wall near the sink and stove area, again with the knives hanging diagonally.

Love the item, but I thought it mounted on the refrigerator and was magnetic on both sides.
Unfortunately, no directions were included as to how to put the screws in. It was very interesting to figure out how the mounting works. I found out the end caps slip in, so the screws are hidden. You must carefully set the screws into the wood exactly right. One end cap supports the weight of this product, not both ends. The other end just holds it in place.
The way it is mounted holds the item just fine; it was just trying to figure out how to do it that was the challenge.

When I took it out of its package, I thought - "This will never hold my knives". What a surprise I received when I raised the bar up with three of my large knives attached to it. I don't know why I associated the light weight of this strip with its magnetic ability to hold many knives - but I did and I was wrong. Its the perfect length for the wall space I prepared. It's also super easy to install. The necessary hardware is attached to the back of the strip. I can now free up a drawer previously used to hold knives - This is a great space saver. Thanks for offering!
