The 13 cup coffee maker size is nicely balanced and handles easily. Solved the 4 mug morning coffee pour. Chemex system makes excellent coffee taste superb - and makes any coffee taste better. Well worth the personal attention to making coffee. Also, heat water in glass container - no plastics or metals to influence taste!

Known as a pristine coffeemaker, Chemex employs all of the chemically correct methods for brewing. Its hourglass shaped flask is made entirely of glass, a chemically inert material that does not absorb odors or chemical residues. The Chemex has no moving parts and will work forever, unless it is dropped or in some other way demolished. The Handblown Chemex Series of coffee brewers is the original Chemex series that Chemex started with in the 1940s. All of the Chemex Handblown series brewers are produced by hand in Germany, the clarity of the glass and fine workmanship is unequalled. The Chemex Handblown coffeemakers tend to be a bit thicker and more durable than mass produced coffeemakers. These units are designed for those who appreciate the quality and elegance of old world glass blowers. The Chemex Coffeemaker was invented over 60 years ago by German chemist and artist, Dr. Peter Schlumbohm. The simplicity of the Chemex coffeemaker's elegant hourglass shape has been honored for its design by many prestigious museums. The Chemex coffeemakers can be found in the Smithsonian, the Museum of Modern Art, and the Philadelphia Museum of Art as part of their permanent collections. Its functional capabilities are world-renowned. Chemex filters are made of the highest quality filter paper. The Chemex uses a thick paper filter that removes many of the impurities that electric makers allow to pass through, making the coffee much more pure and flavorful.
