Filters work great, not to mention the Chemex Coffee Maker makes an awesome cup of coffee without the hassle of cleanup/maintenance.
Note: I always wet the filter with hot water, swivel the water around the bottom of the container, dump it, and then add the ground coffee. This not only cleans the filter, but also makes it form to the coffee maker nicely. This helps avoid having coffee grinds get into the folds of the filter as well.

Dispenser pack of (100) Chemex FC-100 Bonded Filter Squares. These filters will work and are designed for all sizes and styles of Chemex Coffee Brewers except the small Chemex CM-1C and CM-1 models (pint size models). Genuine Chemex-Bonded filters Pre-Folded for convenience Absorbent special fibers for quality Designed to fit all Chemex Coffeemakers (except CM-1 and CM-1C, pint size models) Fits most conical filter coffee makers. Chemex filters remove even the finest sediment particles as well as the undesirable oils and fats. The formulation of the filter permits the proper infusion time by regulating the filtration rate - not to slow, not too fast. Good infusion of the coffee grounds (as in brewing and steeping tea) gives coffee a richer flavor while at the same time making possible precise fractional extraction: filtering out the undesirable components which make coffee bitter by allowing only the desirable flavor elements of the coffee bean to pass through. The Chemex filter is folded into a cone shape, exactly as in laboratory techniques. This assures uniform extraction since the water filters through all the grounds on its way to the apex of the cone. The Chemex filter is guaranteed not to burst under the weight of the liquid during filtration, and not to break when lifting out the grounds.
