Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Chef'n Grapefruiter Citrus Sectioning ToolCustomer Review: The handiest kitchen gadget ever! Summary: 5 Stars
Chef'n has done it again! I've owned this gadget for more than two years and can't live without it. I'm amazed this thing hasn't swept the globe. It's truly an incredible invention that makes quick work sectioning grapefruit. And it's actually fun to use! Just plunge the business end of the tool into the grapefruit (preferably so the edge of the blade is even with the edge of the grapefruit section), squeeze the handle, and pull the tool back out. Release the handle and a section of grapefruit falls out of the tool and into your bowl. You can section half a grapefruit in 30 seconds! It says it works on oranges, too, but haven't tried it yet.
Customer Review: Terrible product, simply doesn't work Summary: 1 Stars
Surprised to see some positive reviews on this item, as it was one of the worst kitchen gadgets I've gotten. I've used citrus cutters like the Orka Grapefruit Cutter and those work pretty well, and I thought this looked like it might work similar but with less mess. Problem is, it simply does not do the job! It leaves so much grapefruit behind (when you can get it to cut a section at all) that it's hardly worth using as I have to get a knife out to scrape all the stuff it left behind. Avoid it, and just get yourself a good grapefruit knife.
Customer Review: Grapefruit NON Cutter Summary: 1 Stars
I was extremely disappointed with this product. I saw it on TV, & hunted it down online. It cost almost as much in shipping as the purchase price, so you can imagine how unhappy I was when it didnt work. I follwed the meager instructions on the wrapper,3 pictures, big deal. I wasted quite a few grapefruits, getting nothing but juice and mush. THEN I wrote to the company's website, & have heard nothing. All in all, I spent over $16 for a product that doesnt work. I wouldnt reccommend it to anyone. By the way, apparently you cant submit a review without at least one star, but trust me, I wouldnt even give it that!
Customer Review: Can't give it "no" stars or I would Summary: 1 Stars
This thing is the pits. I ordered it after reading other negative reviews attributing them to operator error. Wrong. The opening is not long enough to reach from the center of the larger grapefruits to the rind so it can get the entire thing. The scoop is not deep enough to reach the bottom center, and while the mechanics work as described, I only got pieces out that meansured less than an inch in length. Two-thirds of the pulp remained in the section. I ended up returning it stating it does not perform as advertised. You're better off with the trusty grapefruit knife or grapefruit spoons.
Customer Review: This thing DOES NOT WORK! Summary: 1 Stars
I can only assume that all of the positive reviews were written by people that work for the company that makes this thing. The tool is plenty sharp enough but it only scoops out about 1/4 to 1/3 of each section. After you're done using this tool on the grapefruit, you have to remove everything it left behind (more than half the fruit) the old-fashioned way. It's completely useless and I will be returning it on my next trip to Target.
