Customer Review: Great timer, with few (and rather trivial) drawbacks

I missed my old Westbend dual-timer, which believe it or not a lot of pilots use. Got this quad-timer on closeout at Sharper Image (R.I.P.), and have loved it ever since. Runs for months on the same batteries. Great for timing multiple dishes while cooking dinner. E.g., rice needs 10 minutes, fish another 20 minutes, and the veggies another 5 -- no problem. Easy to read, easy to position around the counter (it has a small footprint, a big plus for apartment dwellers). Has both an off and a "mute" button, but the mute button does not just quiet an alarm, it resets the timer to 0:00. The reset button actually mutes an alarm and sets the timer to the last used interval, so it's very handy, for example, checking something every 5 minutes. The large display shows two of the timers at once (the secondary one in smaller numbers). The display is not backlit, and is pretty near vertical so you may try several positions on your counter finding the proper lighting to read it clearly. Bright LEDs display which timers are active, and turn red when a timer has reached 0:00.
But ...
No timer for the oven. Oh well, I guess you can use your oven's timer for that. The clever outer setting dial jumps ahead by 5 minutes, then more, as you set beyond 30 minutes. So if you want to time exactly 1 hour and 22 minutes, you're out of luck. It does count up if you don't "mute" or reset the timer, but you can't program it to start at 0:00 and count up. This is helpful when you want to, say, beat some whipped cream to a certain consistency, but not more than 4 minutes. Looking at your watch isn't convenient and this timer would get five stars if it could time up.
In all ... a very good kitchen timer, and one of the few you can still buy with more than one timer. Whoever designed this did his/her homework, and put a lot of thought into it. Trust me, if you cook, you'll eventually use it. Sorry, pilots, it doesn't have a clip so I'm not sure how you'd mount it in the cockpit.
