Customer Review: Not a great kettle and WAY too expensive

I'm sure Amazon may delete my review since I did not buy this kettle from Amazon. I actually picked it up at the supermarket for $30 so I am not sure why Amazon, which is usually cheaper than most, is selling this item for more than twice as much money!
It looks pretty but do not be tempted by the tea kettle's shiny exterior! After a few uses, the lid starts to loosen and water and steam spew from the spaces around the lid. In addition, it is very difficult and sometimes painful to get the spout open so that you can pour your water. Not only is it awkward to open the spout because the handle is in the way but it is also annoying because if you do not remove your hand quickly you might burn yourself or at the very list water spits out of the spout a little bit. Waiting for the water to cool before opening the spout is one option but that kind of defeats the purpose.
The whistle is a very low note (not that loud shrieking, high pitched, sound) but unfortunately the whistle doesn't work all the time. This is probably due to the fact that the lid loosens so much that there isn't enough steam created inside the kettle to make the whistle sound.
Not a very good tea pot. Especially not for $70!!!

The bottom is safe for use with ceramic, glass, and induction stovetopThis swan teakettle is designed in the same durable style as Chantal's enameled cookware and provides both excellent performance and colorful flair for your kitchen. This 1.8-quart teakettle has a gorgeous, high-quality German-made enameled interior and exterior that are resistant to chipping and fading and easy to clean. A heavy-gauge carbon steel core gives the swan teakettle substantial heft and heats up faster than ordinary kettles. A stopper-type lid lifts off for easy filling or cleaning and pops in again to form a tight seal. When water is boiling, the kettle sounds a pleasant ring that sounds like a harmonica chord rather than the shrill whistle most teakettles emit. A cap over the spout (which contains the whistle) lifts off the spout for smooth pouring. Heat-resistant plastic covers the spout, handle, and stopper lid; however, the manufacturer still advises the use of oven mitts when the kettle is hot.
