Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Chantal Enamel-On-Steel 1-4/5-Quart Classic Teakettle, Cobalt Blue

Customer Review: Fabulous Tea Kettle
Summary: 5 Stars

I have had my beautiful Chantal Tea Kettle for several years know. It is as pretty as the day I got it and I love it. The whitstle is wonderful, the kettle is so sturdy and the cobalt blue matches my kitchen accents. It is the best tea kettle I have ever owned and worth the price.

Customer Review: nice tea kettle ... no rust so far
Summary: 4 Stars

I bought this as a Christmas gift for my wife last year. All of our previous $19.99 tea kettles have rusted over the years so I didn't mind blowing $100+ for a quality tea kettle this time. So far, we have seen no rust. We use it every night for boiling water. We do however ensure that it is emptied before going to sleep. I decided to go with enamel because I felt it was safer than stainless (i.e.: chromium content and leaching potential of stainless). I even e-mailed directly to Chantel to find out whether they would reply back with a highly technical explanation of pro's and con's of enamel versus stainless .... mind you this is a $100+ tea kettle we are talking about here. Needless to say, Chantal never replied back. Overall, my wife and I are very happy about this tea kettle and rest assured I will post a negative comment on this website as soon as I see any rust on this tea kettle. If you ever have to deal directly with Chantel customer service, I wish you the best of luck.

Customer Review: Five months and still not here!
Summary: 1 Stars

Well, I would love to get my hands on it! We have an induction cooktop and must use a magnetic kettle. Ordered this one last October and despite the "ships in 2 to 3 days" promise, shipment has been delayed three times. No one at Amazon can give me an estimated arrival date, nor will anyone say what is causing the delays. I keep heating water in the microwave and wishing I had ordered this kettle from a more reliable source. Patience is stretched pretty thin.

Customer Review: standard by which others are measured
Summary: 5 Stars

This is such an exemplary teapot that I've tried and stored away several others during the years I've owned this one. It's basically indestructible (try to dent it -- just try...), the flat bottom heats quite quickly (esp. on gas ranges), the whistle is extremely solid and probably unbreakable, and the whistle is *loud*. Downsides for some people may include the extreme loudness of the whistle (great for me because I often leave the kitchen while the kettle is on the stove) and the fact that the metal handle does get hot. I keep heat-squares on a hook next to the stove so this isn't a hassle for me (you might have to get used to that extra step before grabbing the teapot handle...) but otherwise it's likely the best traditional whistling teakettle currently available in the U.S.

Customer Review: Best Tea Pot we've ever used
Summary: 5 Stars

This is the second Chantal Tea Pot we've purchased. We wore the first one out after 15 years of daily use. The flat bottom sits nicely on the range and the capacity is good for more than a couple of cups of tea. The harmonica lid is pleasing to the ear.
