Customer Review: Sent the first one back, threw the second in the trash
Summary: 1 Stars

I actually wanted this unit to monitor the temp in the cabinet that houses the home entertainment components in my motor home. It tends to overheat. I wanted to use the second sensor to monitor room temperature.

The first unit I received failed to recognize one of the sensors. I sent it back and bought another one.

The second one would display both sensors for a few hours at best. Then one or both sensors would disappear from the display, even if the sensors are sitting next to the display. Resetting the display and removing and replacing the batteries in both sensors would sometimes get it to work for a while, but never for long. Maybe there is interference from other electronic devices in the RV but in any case it didn't work for me.

I threw it in the trash.

Customer Review: Nice idea - poor range
Summary: 2 Stars

I wanted a thermometer with an alarm for a freezer in my garage. Like many others have written (very poor range). I even tried line of sight with NO obstructions. It couldn't even do 25'.

Another issue: I pulled the batteries from the sensors to see how the display would react. I waited 10 minutes and there was no change in display. I tried 30 minutes, but it still displayed the last recorded temp. I tried 2 hours, but no change in the display. Even after 2 hours the unit displayed the last measured temperatures.

I gave up, and returned it.

Instead I purchased a 915mHz outdoor thermometer from Lacross Technology. I also purchased their TX25U-IT sensor. No alarms, but long range, reasonably accurate, and reasonably priced.

Customer Review: works pretty well, but I wish they'd told me a few things
Summary: 4 Stars

I lost a freezer full of food recently when my freezer conked out temporarily. I searched the Net and came up with this device, which seemed reasonably priced. It's set up in my kitchen, with the fridge perhaps 10 feet away and the freezer right underneath the wall where I mounted the display, so no problem with getting data at a distance. However, I didn't know that the freezer sensor would need lithium batteries, so I had to go out and get them, and they ain't cheap. Then, for some unexplained reason, I get error readings from the fridge thermometer once or twice a day, though it always returns to normal. If not for these flaws, I'd have given it five stars. It should still serve its intended purpose, though, and give me warning when my freezer or fridge does something flaky.

Customer Review: Save me from future costly freezer disasters
Summary: 4 Stars

After our 2nd costly freezer disaster (1st one something caught in door, 2nd one plug came loose) this alarm should save us from major loss in the future. It has 2 sensors which come preprogrammed for use in a refrigerator/freezer, one for each. However I only needed the freezer so I use the 2nd one in my wine celler. The high/low temperature alarm thresholds are easily programmable. My only minor complaint is limited mounting options for placement of the sensors and the main unit. The main unit is made for magnetic door mounting only which would be a problem with stainless. Similarly you can't hang the sensor from a shelf to keep it out of the way. The high/low display is a nice feature. It showed me the somewhat alarming range of temps my freezer goes through during defrost.

Customer Review: Stopped working after 1 day
Summary: 1 Stars

I was very disappointed, because I have a need to monitor the fridge/freezer and hoped this would work. The product was working a-okay when I first installed it. But after the following day the main monitoring unit got in some weird hung state and was not responding. Unit did not respond to my pressing the clear button. The temp's it was displaying remained stuck as is, even after my removing the remotes and warming them up. After an hour it finally displayed an "E". I followed directions and put lithium batt's in the freezer remote, and new Energizer alk's in the base and fridge remote. Called the Cheney customer support number, stayed on hold for 35 minutes before I hung up. Called Amazon and am RMA'ing it for a full refund. Amazon was very helpful and friendly.
