Cast Iron Tortilla Press 7.5", Made in Mexico
I was told by Amazon, I need to contact seller for return or replacement. I left a note to the seller. I had sent in a request to refund the money. If not, I need to complaint to Consumer Complaint hotline. I have had 10/10 times favorable to my complaint. That is the only way we can have these companies stop selling this type of products online. Amazon accepts returns or replace it if you wanted, when there is a a real issue. These small companies dont do that. Their overheads are minimum and they dont compramise on their price. Their refund policy sucks.
This item does not roll out the dough. The press does not press out the dough thin enough-there are no adjustments you can make.
I could not even make 3" tortillas and does not have any control to get required thickness or the shapes. Read through all kids of suggestions... used the ziploc to get clean and non sticky surface... FAILED to get atleast 3.5" flat tortilla.
It is not worth it to pay the shipping and buy this for $15.00.
Description of Cast Iron Tortilla Press 7.5", Made in Mexico
The typical Mexican tortilla press has a "silver" painted on coating normally "crudely" applied. The purpose of the coating is to prevent the cast iron from rusting. Don't be concerned about the "paint job" because you never put dough directly on the surface. The "rustic" nature of the "authentic" Mexican made tortilla press is part of the fun of Mexican cooking. Small rounds of corn masa (dough) are inserted between the two plates and with one simple press... a fresh tortilla is made! To use the press lay a piece of plastic wrap - a sandwich bag is ideal - on the bottom plate then place a walnut sized ball of dough made from corn flour on top. Cover the dough with another layer of plastic wrap close the press and push the handle down firmly. Open the press and lift off the top section of plastic. You should have a flat round tortilla ready for the griddle. This same press is an excellent tool to use to flatten dough for Chinese dumplings or scallion pancakes.Quesadilla & Tortilla Makers
