Customer Review: $$$ well spent
Summary: 5 Stars

Before buying this coffeemaker I had read quite a few reviews on it and was in result very hesitant to make the purchase. Luckily for me one of the reviews was really positive and it indicated that people who have trouble with this machine simply are not following instructions. I took a chance and I am really happy I did. This is a very good machine, does what it is supposed to do and I would never go back to my old coffeemaker. Me and my coffee have received compliments from my guests on multiple occassions. All those reviews stating that you cannot get strong coffee out of this machine are wrong. Me and my friends, we like our coffee strong and I have had no trouble at all getting the right strenght. All you have to do is follow instructions and you'll see for yourself. If you wish, you can always use less water. Play with it a little and you will achieve the desired result. I usually make coffee using 1/2 cup less water than indicated. My machine is always set at 8 cups, grinder set at "finest" and I use 7 1/2 cups of water. Coffee that comes out is strong and full of flavor and thank to the thermal carafe it never tastes like it is burned. For the money spent I got me a wonderful machine and you should, too.
One thing I would suggest to everyone buying this Capresso is get an optional container that can hold more beans so you don't have to refill it as often as with the one coming as standard with the machine. It costs $10.00 and it is truly worth the investment.
Enjoy your coffee!

Customer Review: Love this coffee maker
Summary: 4 Stars

I previously owned the Capresso Burr Grinder coffemaker for years, and the only complaint I had was that the coffee was not warm enough. Not sure if I had a defective machine, or if this was normal. When I saw that they came out with a stainless version I figured my problem was solved. It was.

Let's deal with the important stuff. The taste of the coffee, excellent and the aforementioned issue with temperature, solved. As far as convience, the digital controls are not intuitive and take some getting used to. This coffee maker does not have the ablility to utilize a charcoal filter that the previous, non-stainless version, did.

Cleaning this coffeemaker sets it apart from its peer all-in-ones. Just remove the gold coffee filter dump and rinse, then rinse the pot and your set to go with your next pot of java. No fuss no muss. I love this about this coffee maker.

Cost, I must confess the price tag is a bit excessive, but I enjoyed my previous capresso coffee maker for 3 years and have cascaded it to my office.

If you want the convience of an all-in-one coffee grinder/maker there is no other product on the market that can tuch the capresso for quality and convienence. The stainless version allows me to enjoy the coffee all morning and into the afternoon. My only complaints and they are minor are cost, some getting used to with the digtal controls, and no charcoal filter option.

Customer Review: Love the grinder, not the carafe
Summary: 3 Stars

I've had both Melitta and Cuisinart Grind and Brew coffeemakers and my husband and I were tired of the tedious cleaning of the Cuisinart models. After having two Cuisinart models die after a little over a year of use each I decided it was time to try something new. I purchased a refurbished Capresso 455 Coffee TEAM Stainless Coffeemaker/Burr Grinder unit about a month ago. I was somehwat hesitant after reading some reviews of how complicated, or less than intuitive, they are to program but I referred to the owner's manual and was able to program everything I needed without a problem. I love the bean storage, multiple grinding features, and the ease of cleaning between brew cycles. I have not yet cleaned or descaled the machine, but don't anticipate any problems with that. Weekdays we'll usually make 1 and a half pots of coffee, weekends two or three. The only issue I have with the machine is the thermal carafe, the first cup or two are wonderful but remaining coffee in the carafe cools off quickly; preheating the pot helps, but that somewhat defeats the purpose of having a timer to allow you to wake up to a nice hot, fresh brewed cup of coffee. I usually end up reheating anything after the second cup, unless my husband is drinking it as well. It's still early and I do like the pot, but would recommend one with a warming plate instead of the thermal carafe if you like hot coffee and want it to stay hot more than 60-90 minutes.

Customer Review: Amazing Coffeepot
Summary: 5 Stars

My husband and I purchased this coffeepot for each other for Christmas. Coffee is my favorite drink. I drink it from dawn to bedtime. My children have always told me that I need a burr grinder for my beans. My husband wished we had a timer on our very inexpensive coffeepot. So, we did some homework, splurged and purchased this coffeepot. Wahoo! This pot is so easy! This pot makes delicious coffee! We are so happy we bought it!

I've only goofed up once (so far). Prior to purchasing this pot, I used a carafe. I'd fill it with hot water and leave it on the counter all night to heat the carafe. In the morning, I'd pour out the carafe water and pour in the fresh hot coffee. With the Capresso, the carafe sits empty under the grounds and water dripper. Once I forgot to empty the hot water from the Capresso carafe, put it under the water and grounds, pressed "go," and had hot coffee eventually drain all over the countertop. I wasn't watching. Oh, well. So, if my brain works right, the pot works beautifully.

I'd skip the gold filters and go right for the paper filters. The coffee is so much more delicous, in our opinion, using paper filters. The gold filter left sludge in the bottom of every cup and also the carafe and the coffee wasn't clear. We much prefer the paper filtered coffee. No remains in the bottom of the cups or carafe. Much clearer coffee.

Customer Review: Disapionted
Summary: 2 Stars

This coffee maker is just what I was looking for, but considerably more money that I wanted to spend on a coffee pot, After reading all the reviews here at Amazon, I was convienced to go ahead and pull the trigger. All I can really say is that for $300 I really expected more. If I had paid $30 at Walmart for it, it would be in the trash can by now, but after blowing half a truck payment on it I am stuck with at least trying to make it work.

First, the grinder seems to keep getting plugged up. While the grinder runs the alloted amount of time, the beans do not fall from the hopper into the grinder and so less than enough beans end up ground into the basket, and you get watered down coffee. Second, the basket is supposed to swing over from the grinding station to the brewing station after grinding is complete. It just doesn't have enough spring power to make the trip and stops just short which means that the hot brewed coffee is split between the pot, and the counter.

I am what I consider a good consumer. I compare prices to an extent, but quality is what I am after and if I find a good product, I will spend $$ to get the best. I have to say that I was caught off gaurd this time. If I hadn't already discarded the box and packing I would be sending it back. After rereading the above reviews I must really be doing something wrong. Good luck.
