I have always used the water filters and had no complaints. Just make sure you soak them for a few minutes and run a few cups of water (no coffee) through your coffee maker when you put a new one in. These filters help improve the taste of my coffee and I would not think of drinking coffee with out them. They help to remove impurities in the water and give your coffee a much improved taste. Man do I love my Capresso drip coffee maker. My Capresso needs filters. That's fine. I'd give it gold bullion if it asked...
Since they are not made of gold, these filters get a 4 for price being a bit too high.

I wasn't so sure I needed these Capresso water filters for my coffee maker since I use filtered water, but found that it does keep small grounds from seeping into the water. I just don't change them as often as they recommend.
