Customer Review: I just hope their expensive stuff isn't this bad

I recently got a black FrothXpress frother as a birthday present from my husband to go with my new Saeco Magic coffee machine. Like many low end (whoever thought $750 would get you a low-end anything!?) automatic machines, it's a messy process to switch from coffee to steam so I thought a dedicated frother would come in handy.To keep this review short: I've decided to live with "messy" because it's sure better than "junk". This Capresso product became problematic within a week and only a couple of uses. The steam button just won't push down anymore, as if it's hanging up on something internally. And if you can't push down the button, you guessed it...no steam. Too bad I've had it over 30 days because now I can't send it back and get it out of my life. On the bright side, at least I'll be able to update my review with some information about the responsiveness of Capresso's customer service. Watch this space :-)
By the way, except for the little drip grating which is some sort of stamped metal, the entire thing is plastic and disturbingly lightweight. I don't know about you, but I like my kitchen appliances to at least have a nice, solid heft to them and the FrothXpress fails in that regard. Unlike other Capresso products I've seen at Williams&Sonoma, this is (proudly?) Made In China. Draw your own conclusions.

If you're a fan of cappuccinos, lattes, hot chocolate, or other drinks that use hot, frothy milk (and really, who isn't?), then Capresso's FrothXpress should become an indispensable part of your kitchen collection. After it's been turned on and warmed up for two minutes, it's easy to use. Just fill the water tank (which is in the actual machine), then fill the milk tank (which is a separate unit), and attach them. From that moment, it's just a matter of putting a cup under the spout and pressing the button--voilà, steamed frothy milk for a variety of treats. The milk temperature is adjustable from 120 to 170 degrees F, and the frother has 1,220 watts of power, as well as a stainless-steel ThermoBlock that ensures the aluminum parts don't touch the steam, a nice safety feature.
