Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Can Ram - Aluminum Can CrusherCustomer Review: Can crusher is cool!! Summary: 4 Stars
I bought the can crusher for my boyfriend who goes through a lot of cans. :) He mounted it on the wall right above the recycle bin and it works great! We put the cans in, crush them and they're in the bin, no mess no fuss. The only issue is that when they fall toeards the crushing part or you just toss the can in, you have to make sure that it falls the right way to properly crush it. If it falls incorrectly you have to stick your hand in the sticky mess to adjust the can. Also, I haven't yet figured out how I'm gonna clean it. Other wise, I think it was a great gift and he has a lot of fun crushing the cans and thank goodness he is picking up after himself too!
Customer Review: WORTHLESS! Summary: 1 Stars
I had a steel multiple can crusher for many years that worked just great. When it finally broke I replaced it with this plastic model and found it to be a flimsy piece of junk that I would not recommend to anyone. if I put more than 2 cans in the chute the cans jammed up and I had to manually remove them and crush them one at a time. And even that was nowhere near as easy as it was with my old one. I first assumed I had not assembled it properly so I double checked the complicated assembly instructions and it seemed to be properly assembled. That was when I tossed it in the trash can, after less than a week of having it.
Customer Review: Plastic vs. Metal is no match! Summary: 1 Stars
The mechanical design and operation is one of those that looks good on paper, but when put into use, it's time to go back to the drawing board and change the composite material to metal. Cans are metal and a plastic ram after repeated use, is NOT going to hold up. Imagine a new Ford truck with plastic grille, headlight doors and trim, colliding with an old Chevy truck of all metal parts. The results will be $2000 damage to the Chevy and $8000 damage to the Ford. Spend a couple dollars more for a metal crusher or replace the plastic one in 6 months or less.
Customer Review: It's okay Summary: 3 Stars
I bought this item because I was trying to make more room in my garage. It works, just don't try to crush the cans really fast. Any cans that are a little more than slightly crushed ruin the flow of the hopper. (May pop up against the other cans in the hopper.) You're better off crushing those cans on your own. I was trying to crush 16 oz cans and that's not easy with this crusher either.
Not bad. Wish I wouldn't have paid as much as I did for it, but if you have cans that aren't warped or are 16 oz cans, it's worth owning.
Customer Review: It's upside down Summary: 1 Stars
Whoever designed this had to be drunk. you have to lift the handle to smash the cans. I tend to be on the weak and shakey side so this is hard for me to do. I could lift the handle to raise it to squah the next can, but on this model I can'r get enough umph to raise the handle squashing the can.
Isac Newton had an apple fall on his head and discovered gravity.
Mix the opposition of gravity with the upward shakey force needed to squish cans and you have a terrible product.
BTW it's all plastic and pretty punnie at that.
