Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Calphalon One Nonstick 11-Inch Square Grill PanCustomer Review: Barbecue flavor without outdoor grilling Summary: 5 Stars
For approximately three years I have used this grill pan to grill indoors. In fact I used it once again to prepare our Fourth of July barbecue inside the house as the wind was blowing. The wind blows here a lot, so I've used this pan many times to get the barbecue flavor indoors.
I use my high heat burner to preheat the pan and then grill steaks, hamburgers or hot dogs on it. The pan leaves authentic grill marks on the food. It looks and pretty well tastes like food grilled on the outdoor barbecue grill.
The pan is very easy to clean. I let the pan cool and then add a small amount of water to it. I then simmer the water to help release some of the barbecue mess. I gently scrub the pan with my nylon scrubber and I am done.
Great tasting food with a pan that's easy to use and clean.
Customer Review: Great Grill Pan Summary: 5 Stars
Bought this pan about a month ago, and have been using it constantly. I've made burgers and steak and they've come out beautifully -- nicely seared on the outside, juicy on the inside. It also makes the best grilled cheese (I use my tea kettle -- filled with water -- as a grill press). I also used it a few times to make grilled bread to accompany soups and salads (touch of garlic-infused olive oil brushed on the surface)and it has really infused the bread with flavor. I find cleaning relatively easy, but you need to let the pan cool first. Then I place it in the sink, squirt dishwashing liquid in it and fill with hot water. Let it soak about 1/2 hour and whatever is stuck on wipes off easily. I'm very happy with this purchase.
Customer Review: Big Disappointment Summary: 2 Stars
This pan gets 0 stars from me for its performance. I give it 2 stars, however, because it is quality built.
It doesn't seem to conduct heat well, steaming the meat rather than grilling it. And increasing the heat only burns everything. This pan is recommended for ceramic cook-tops, but I haven't found it works well on them because only a fraction of its (rippled) bottom comes in direct contact with the stove's cooking surface.
This $50 Calphalon One is greatly inferior to my $15 square grill pan from Italy, which has a round plate on the bottom that comes in full contact with the ceramic burner. I feel the Calphalon One was a complete waste of my money!
Customer Review: Great Non-Stick Grill Pan Summary: 5 Stars
We had a cast iron grill pan that we could never fully clean and was chipped from us trying to clean it. Then I read the reviews on Amazon and got this pan. It is wonderful. It is pretty large. I cooked two 2.5 pound flank steaks on it (enough to feed 6+ people) The grill lines leave good grill marks in the steak.
It's also a good value. I found grill pans from $10-$200 and this one seems to be among the best.
I recommend spraying the pan with a thin coating of cooking spray before using each time. Then after done cooking, let the pan soak in warm water and soap. Everything will come right off with a sponge.
Customer Review: Condo Living Summary: 5 Stars
We live in a condo and don't have access to a BBQ. This is the next best thing!
This gets used almost everyday! So far it has done steaks, fish, chops, grill cheese, chicken, paninis, kabobs you name it.
It sears meat beautifuly and the grill marks are top notch. It comes through in spades in terms of presentation and final taste of food.
Cleaning is a breeze. Let it cool down and just put it in the sink with some dish washing liquid. Few swipes and you are done.
The Calphalon One Grill pan has become an essential tool in our kitchen. One one of the best investments we have made!
