Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Calphalon JR8782-2P Contemporary Nonstick 2-1/2-Quart Shallow Saucepan with LidCustomer Review: Wonderful pot Summary: 5 Stars
I love this pot. I cook rice in it often - and sauces. It even goes in the oven! (think it's up to 350 or maybe 400 degrees)
I've had it several years - use it at least once a week - and just love it! It's easy to clean, things don't stick, it's heavy and sturdy and the Calphalon warranty and customer service are AWESOME (I had 2 Calphalon skillets I recently had to return due to the coating coming off and they were quickly replaced by new ones, no questions asked)
Customer Review: Calphalon 2-1/2 qt saucepan Summary: 5 Stars
As with other Calphalon cookware, this one is super. It cooks evenly, has no hot spots, and cleans with ease. The glass lid makes checking for doneness very easy. I wish I had known beforehand that commercial non-stick sprays are a NO-NO, as I had just stocked up on PAM sprays. A surprising use--making scrambled eggs for two. Because of the smaller diameter, as opposed to the 10" saute pan, the eggs come out more moist, and I can finish them with the lid that comes with the pan.
Customer Review: Good, heavy quality pan Summary: 4 Stars
This pan is of great quality. It is a heavy pot, so I expect it will last a lifetime. I've only had it about a month, but I have used it several times and it cooks great. It is a wonderful pan that disperses heat evenly -- which makes it perfect for cooking foods that require water to be a rolling boil. I purchased it on sale, I wouldn't have paid 90 bucks for it as it retails for, but it is a hight quality pan and of great value so it was definately worth the sale price.
Customer Review: Favorite pot in the kitchen! Summary: 5 Stars
Picked this up after a recommendation from America's Test Kitchen. The price was unbelievably low for such a quality pan. The non-stick coating is very durable. The wide-mouth design makes for much easier work with polenta and sauce-making. Easier to get into the corners and the larger surface area makes for quicker heating and evaporation for reductions. A quick tap on the lid knocks off the condensation so you can check on rice without having to lose any heat/steam.
Customer Review: A quality saucepan, solid, attractive, works well. Summary: 5 Stars
I bought this shallow saucepan and it works rather well. It has a quality feel, very solid and sturdy, and is attractive too! The nonstick is good quality and food cooks more quickly because the pan has more surface area. I use this pan for soups mainly. A little heavy, but isn't every quality pan heavy? Looks attractive and I got a great price, less than it is now. All in all, a great deal! Much better deal than I could have gotten in the store, that's for sure!!
