Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Calphalon D812 Commercial Hard Anodized 12-Quart Stockpot with LidCustomer Review: Bestest Biggest pot you could ever own. Summary: 5 Stars
I bought this pot specially to cook one of favorite dishes, turnips and greens as my old Calphalon pot I bought about 20 years ago was I thought proving to be too small. In this new pot I can now cook 6 pounds of turnip and mustard greens, 9 pounds of turnips, a pound and a half of bacon, two large onions and they all fit in the one pot. This new pot cooks a perfect mess of greens and a large one, transfers heat totally throughout the contents for even cooking without constant stirring and is amazingly easy to clean.
Customer Review: Not the Calphalon You Remember from 80s/90s Summary: 3 Stars
The style may look similar to the Calphalon that came on the scene in the mid-1980s, but the material here is considerably thinner than that cookware. I owned the old stuff, and compared to this the construction and performance is shoddy. This is more like a cheap knockoff made in China (which is where it's made) than the Calphalon you remember (or still happily own). This is really too thin to transfer heat the way the old Calphalon that looked so similar to this does. I'd pass on it. You can do better.
Customer Review: Calphalon-light! Summary: 1 Stars
Allways satisfied with the fifteen other Calphalon pots I own, I bought the 12 qt stockpot to compliment the 8 qt. I have loved. Sadly, this pot is a light-weight version, only half as thick as the older 8 qt. and not as well finished. It would rate an "okay", for $29.99, but I would never have added it to my kitchen. Restaurant supply stores, open to the public, have better made pots for less and really nice stainless clad pots for similar prices. This pot is definitely not the old "commercial" Calphalon.
Customer Review: Great Price Summary: 4 Stars
The pot came in perfect condition , the lid has 3 very small spots where the shiny metal was showing. I have had to send back more items recently then in all the years I have shopped with Amazon. I decided that I wasn't going to send it back and found that I had another lid that fit the pot perfectly. I got the item on a Friday sale for 39.99 so I guess I cant complain... I'm just getting a little concerned about all the products coming to me damaged or getting lost in the free super saver shipping.
Customer Review: going right back to amazon Summary: 1 Stars
do not buy this stockpot! just got it today and it's going back immediately. aside from other reviews concerning leaking from the handles this just looks like a crappy stockpot. when it was made in the u.s.a. i'm sure it was great but that is not the case anymore. it has noticable machine marks which makes the surface rough. the handles look real cheap too. don't let the so called sale price get you like it did me. this isn't worth $60 on sale and amazon shouldn't even sell it. really don't buy it.
