If you cook large quantities of soup or chili, this pot is a must have. The quality is more than adequate for the amount of money you pay. I make my world famous chili in it and it stands up to 12 hours on the fire and then cleans out in a flash after the chili has been re-warmed in it for 3 days. This is one of my favorite Amazon purchases. That being said, this is not the quality of the old school calphalon that sells for about 5 times this price but who really needs that level of quality. This will do everything you need and last for years and years to come.

You can't tell by the pic, but the lid is thick and heavy, and rests atop the pot for a perfect seal. The handles also are a very thick quality metal that feels good in your hands, and are fastened securely to the pot and lid such that there is no wiggling like other brands. The anodized steel is naturally non-stick and cleans easily with a sponge and warm soapy water. The pot heats evenly. This makes an impressive gift for weddings or anniversaries, and an even better gift-to-self, lol. Everyone who sees this pot in my kitchen just loves it.

I purchased the calphalon commercial after purchasing the infused hard anodized cookware. I really enjoy cooking with the pot. If you follow the proper cooking tips from calphalon, nothing sticks. It cooks great and food cooks evenly. The only problem that I see is the top fits but not like the other calphalon cookware that I purchased. The reason may be because this piece was made in China and my other pieces were made in America. I am told that you can take any piece to the Bed Bath and Beyond strore and they will replace it for you.

Except for the fact that the lid just sort of perches on top and doesn't have a vent in it, this is a wonderful stockpot. It's substantial and conducts heat beautifully, which helps to avoid hot spots. I look forward to making many pots of soup and stew in the future with it. It even cooks up bulk spinach very well. And I recently bought another item - a huge, deep frying pan by Calphalon and am very impressed by this brand. I was sick of going through frying pans which stopped being stick proof and had to be tossed out every year or so.

I probably don't cook as much as most of the other reviewers here, but this thing is absolutely great for the price. Very light. Very sturdy. Even and quick heating. I had wanted one for awhile (since Alton had recommended it on one of his early Good Eats episodes). I had Googled and found the thing hadn't been on sale in about a year a half, so I finally decided to go ahead and pay full price. It went on sale less than an hour after I bought it. I emailed Amazon and they refunded me the difference right away. Great support.
