Customer Review: Just OK - Inside Coating Coming Off
Summary: 3 Stars

This was a great pot for a couple years but the inside coating on the bottom has recently begun to come off. I can only assume that it is slowing leaching into the food I cook. They have the stated retail price at $169 but that is just standard marketing mumbo jumbo to get you to believe that you are getting a great deal. The truth is for the $69 this pot costs on Amazon you could find a much better 12 qt. stock pot than the Calphalon. I would go for all stainless if you can and not worry about the iffy coating on the Calphlon. Just like when buying tools, when it comes to kitchen ware get the best. Buy fewer items, but spend a little more on each and you will be sooooooo much happier in the long run. The good stuff will have a life that spans multiple generations. Look at me it is three years after I first purchased this pot and I already have to get a new one. Pretty soon I am going to have spent twice as much as the best quality ones would have cost in the first place.

Customer Review: de-anodized on 3rd batch of sauce....HOWEVER
Summary: 3 Stars

I am a very happy owner of way too many pieces of Calphalon, hard anodized and stainless. This pot has a good weight (not too heavy), small enough base to fit on a standard burner and still get a pan on the burner in front, if needed. The 3rd batch of home grown tomato sauce took about a 4" circle of anodizing off on the bottom.

Spoke with customer service at Calphalon, and as it happed SO quickly, they are sending a post paid return. AND, since this is discontinued...it will be replaced with a 12 qt. contemporary stainless (can you spell dishwasher?) So, folks, at the amazing Friday price - for a little inconvenience I'll have a great stock pot for next season!

Other cooks have not reported this outcome, so I do think it's a bad batch from China, but they absolutely stand by their warranty.

So, yes, buyer beware - -but, if you're paying attention here....there's no way to lose. These are great products at a fabulous Amazon price.

Customer Review: awful
Summary: 1 Stars

Why would anyone want pots that can't be used on high heat, can't be washed in the dishwasher or can't be scoured for fear of removing their anodized finish. My Calphalon professional pots were very expensive and it makes me sick that they have preformed so poorly.

I am a real cook and use my pots several times a day, I need them to work, not just look good and this cookware is ridiculously tempermental. After leaving them on the heat too long, just once, they warp. Food sticks easily to them and they are very hard to clean because you can't use steelwool or abrasive pads. After a guest put one in a dishwasher by mistake, the pot finish was ruined, and I had aluminum coming off on my food. I am someone who takes good care of my things, and it is impossible to clean these well without removing the finish. I had taken some comfort in the "lifetime" warantee, I tried to return them, but the warantee, like this cookware is absolutely useless!

Customer Review: QUALITY Issues
Summary: 2 Stars

This Pot is heavily & deeply grooved inside which translates to a quick & dirty finishing/polishing job on the part of Calphalon. You can feel the grooves with your fingers easily and it is as if the company did not fully smooth it out.

I own several Hard-Ano pans from Calphalon and all are nearly mirror smooth in surface, not this one.

This pot is huge and inexpensive..39.99 -w- free shipping.
But I feel again disappointed to see that Calphalon has decided to undermine their own Brand Name and quality integrity.

Calphalon used to make great cookware, but not in these new China made, low end models.

I think i will keep this as i do not plan on using it too often, it is more a "special use" pot. And for the money it is OK.

But if you are using the stock pot often and see it as an integral part of your kitchen I strongly encourage you to get something else like All-Clad...MC2.

Customer Review: Awesome, As Usual
Summary: 5 Stars

No surprises here - just the usual excellent Calphalon quality in a great big pot! Now I can make twice the soup/stew or chili in the same amount of time. I am a big time Calphalon user (have almost every pot they make) so I knew exactly what to expect. The commerical hard anodized is the cat's meow! When we hold our cooking classes all the students are either envious or intimated - that's what a twelve quart pot should do!

Also - May I say that service from Amazon.com is also excellent - they are the perfect shopping vehicle - efficient service - fast delivery and lots of automated features that are so easy to follow - not that terrible multi-menu, remember a thousand options thing either!

I usally never order over the net but with Amazon I can easily make my picks and then submit my credit card info over the phone, High marks for Calphalon and Amazon - they are both just great!

YES - you may quote me!
