The traditional Caleca pattern "Margherita" is one that liked, liked, and more liked. Cheerful daisy petals and small leaves, which extend on the plate border decorated with a classic plaid motif of glazed and intense colors, are ideal for a table setting with strong personality. Each Caleca ceramic piece is individually hand-painted and "autographed" on the bottom by its decorator, after which is applied the registered Caleca trademark, authenticating to the originality and high quality of the product. Just recently, Caleca Italia has reached a milestone in developing a new low porosity, extra strong, but lighter ceramic body comparable to stoneware, vitreous and porcelain, rendering the Caleca products highly resistant to chipping and prolonged usage. Born from an antique tradition of over two-hundred years, realized from the most modern system and created by artists of diversified nationalities, the Caleca products are the fruit of a perfect fusion of tradition, good taste and technology.Manufactured and decorated by hand in Sicily for over 200 years, this Italian pottery from Caleca maintains a high level of durability, beauty, and tradition. An 11-inch dinner plate, 8-1/2-inch shallow bowl, 8-1/4 inch salad plate, 6-ounce tea cup, and 6-inch saucer make up the Margherita 5-piece place setting from Caleca. A bold blue and white gingham pattern adorns the serving area of the shallow bowl and salad plate, and encircles the edge of the dinner plate, while cheerful oversized daisies in green, blue, and yellow peek over the edges and cover the bowl of the tea cup adding a whimsical quality to the design. Crafted from lead-free, non-toxic clay, all Caleca dinnerware is chip-resistant and can safely be placed in the dishwasher and microwave. --Lea Werbel
