Customer Review: Workmanlike removal of corn kernels and corn milk

This corn cob cutter works very well removing kernels and corn milk right down to the inedible cob itself. At times, a few kernels on the top of the cob may be missed if the diameter of the cob is quite small, but it's easy for the frugal chef to lop them off with a chef's knife.
Another reviewer suggests using a nail to hold the cob, and that worked pretty well when I cut three dozen ears of corn for a party. But in every day use, I prefer to hold the corn by the bottom and turn the ear until the cutter reaches the midpoint, and then hold the cob end, and turn from that end.
The advantage of this technique is that you can direct the kernels into the cooking vessel with a fair degree of accuracy and you can capture virtually all of the corn milk.
I use two roasting techniques for the kernels. With enough time, separate the milk from the kernels and toss the kernels with a little extra-virgin olive oil. Spread corn in ungreased baking pan. Bake in oven approximately 20 minutes or until corn begins to turn light golden brown, stirring every 5-10 minutes. Pour the milk over the finished kernels.
Quicker, but one loses some of the fond, the brown deliciousness from the roasting, to the bottom of the pan. Separate the milk from the kernels, and place the kernels in a medium hot non-stick pan for five minutes or so, stirring no more than once or twice. Pour the milk over the kernels.
