Customer Review: Just don't make 'em like they used to

No surprises - this hair dryer is exactly as described, and it probably deserves another star if it's only compared to other units that are currently available. The folding handle makes it convenient for travel, it does a reasonable job of drying my hair, and I didn't find it excessively loud. But, my old 1600 watt Conair compact styler felt much more solid, was slightly smaller even though it felt bigger and more comfortable in my hand, dried my hair faster, had a fan motor that didn't sound quite as whiney, and coexisted nicely with other electrical devices on a 15 amp circuit. And although I liked my old 1600 watt dryer better than my new Vagabond, it didn't dry my hair any faster than the 1200 watt dryer it replaced, or the 1000 watt dryer before that. Exactly what are all these hundreds of extra watts doing for me other than increasing the size of my carbon footprint? Hey Conair - come up with an Energy Star rated dryer and I'll trade this puppy in in a heartbeat!
