Customer Review: A little cheapish

You get what you pay for. This looks cool in a photo but is a tad disappointing in real life. Just slightly cheapish in the plastic quality and construction. I would have made the start/stop button half the size and increased the LCD by twice. The "lock" slide switch is just a bit confusing as to when it works and what it does. I wish that simple timers were all really SIMPLE. But, after a few moments with the instructions and some trial and error, this one isn't that bad. It has a spring clip on the back that makes it handy to clip to something but keeps it from being as flat and out-of-the-way as it could be when hung from a neck. I also have a Polder that hangs from a neck that happens to fit both my front shirt pocket and a chef's shoulder pocket. On this CDN, I would have made two models, one with a clip and one with a cord for neck hanging. The cord seems permanently attached unless you snip it off with scissors. So, if you're clipping it to something, I think the cord is in the way. If it's around your neck, the clip is in the way. I also HATE the battery cover. But I have the same gripe on the Polder. They are poor fitting, easy to lose, and you have to fiddle with them to get the battery seated properly. Other than these few nitpicks, it's not that bad. By the way, to me it was smaller than I thought it would be. Good for me, maybe not for you. Don't use it with wet hands, you can see the circuit board through the cracks around buttons.

The CDN TR3-W Timer On A Rope counts up and down, and doubles as a sports stopwatch. Features stop, restart, last count recall, and lock functions. Made of ABS plastic. Battery (1.5V Button IEC LR44 Alkaline) and instructions included. 5 year limited warrCute as a button and feather-light, this mini digital timer makes a terrific gift for someone who likes amateur athletics (no tenths or hundredths of seconds on this one). Measuring only 2-1/4 by 1-1/2 by 1/2 inches, the timer can be worn around the neck with the attached loop cord, or positioned some place handy with the pocket clip and magnetic strip on the back. The timer counts either up to or down from 100 minutes by seconds, and automatically reverts to the last count setting, making it ideal for repetitive timings. Use it to challenge your speed on a certain task, or for timing chess and other board game moves. The last count recall is also great when baking big batches of cookies--just push one button and it starts the same timing count over again for the next tray. The alarm?s loud staccato beeps can be heard over the din of a gym, and a lock switch prevents the timer from being accidentally cleared.
