Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of CDN TM15t Design TM15 Extra Large Big Digit Timer

Customer Review: Not very loud at all. Good magnet though.
Summary: 3 Stars

The beeper on this timer is not very loud. I can hear it in my small apartment, but not in my large office. I have a different timer there that is extremely loud, and is of the same size and general cheapness of this one.

The magnet is plenty powerful. It sticks to my fridge just fine. Because the display is so huge, I can easily see the numbers from across the room.

Neat feature: if you just press "start" without any time on the timer, it works as a stopwatch.

Neater feature: it uses a AAA battery, and not one of those benighted circle batteries that cost as much as a year's worth of college and are a pain in the butt to put in. Ugh.

Minor annoyance: the sticker that protects the display has printing on it, so you /have/ to take it off. Said sticker is on the display fairly tightly.

Customer Review: Good basic timer
Summary: 5 Stars

I was looking for a good basic timer and this fit the bill. It allows you to count up or down and shows time elapsed after the alarm rings (to see how much I screwed up the cookies).

One feature I was looking for but wasn't apparent from the descriptions or photos is how the back is set up. I use the magnet, not the easel and attach it to the stove hood. With some timers the magnet is on the easel and the easel comes out from the back of the timer. Then when you push the timer buttons, it rocks back and forth on the easel, and usually falls into the soup. However, this timer has has the easel flush with the back of the timer. When attached to the hood, it does not rock back and forth when pushing the buttons. Big plus in my book. Sometimes it is just the small details.

Customer Review: Awesome!
Summary: 5 Stars

Love this little gadget! I ordered this early in 2010 and have been happy with it ever since. The magnet on the back is very secure (I keep mine on the fridge) the fact that is couts up and down is fantastic when testing recipes to get the exact cooking time. The sound is loud enough to hear 2 rooms away and it begins a few seconds before the actual time is up (which I appreciate)

Unfortunately, last week my kitty knocked mine off the fridge when it hit my ceramic tile floor it shattered the crystal face - without delay I'm ordering another one and obviously placing it elsewhere on my fridge (my kitty is still a juvinile!)

All in all if you have a need for a kitchen timer I can tell you - you will love this one. Great price - reliable - perfect.

Customer Review: Versatile and useful
Summary: 5 Stars

I needed a simple minutes and seconds timer for giving 5 to 30 minute audience presentations with strict time limits. I needed a count-up timer with big easy to read display that could be placed on the podium and easily readable at a glance. This item meets those needs perfectly. However, I did not want the loud beep every time I pressed the start/stop button, so I fixed that problem by removing the 2 screws that keep the unit together and cutting one of the wires to the tiny speaker. Now that it is silent, it is perfect for my application!
The one thing I do not like is that the M and S letters flash while it is timing and this can be distracting when giving a talk to an audience ... a piece of tape over that portion of the display can fix that too!

Customer Review: Loud? Not.
Summary: 3 Stars

I bought this timer because it is advertised as LARGE and LOUD. I must agree that the display is large and easy to read from across the kitchen. But this timer is NOT loud. It can be heard in the kitchen. But from another part of the house, not a chance, especially if there is any noise (radio, TV or kids) elsewhere. If you move from the kitchen, you'd better take the timer with you, or you'll miss its beeper, which only runs for 60 seconds, then it shuts off. At least it counts UP from there, so you'll know how long you've overcooked your food.

Why can't timers have a really LOUD electronic alarm, not just a crappy little beeper? Cell phones ring loud enough to wake the dead. At least print the decibel level on the package.
